What the ****?

So they're randomly going to end an sensible 11-year tradition.....because why? So we can see a Packers team that failed to make the playoffs last year?

Stupid as all hell. Probably a good game, but whatever. Banner still goes up and the Pats get to start Mahomes off with a rude awakening.

The Ravens did not open up the 2013 season at home after winning the SB, so the league has broken tradition in the past

iirc the reason the Ravens didn't was because the Orioles had a home game the same night (the stadiums share a parking lot).

Think it’s because of the 100th anniversary of the NFL. They’re trying to pay tribute by putting on the oldest rivalry and all that.

Kinda dumb. But as long as we get the SNF slot, it’s no big deal to me.

This is so stupid..............

This is the only Thursday of the year where you don't have a short-week to prepare, and you still get the mini-bye after.

What did the Packers/Bears do to earn this???

Ridiculous - GIVE IT TO THE CHAMPS!

Very true. Its a big advantage well earned for the SB champs to play that THursday night and then not ahve to play for 10 days. Only time it happens during the season and it is supposed to be a perk for SB champs. Not happy taht they have taken this away from us.

It actually works for me. I hope they keep the Chiefs out of our early season schedule for once and we get to match up with them after October when our defense is usually starting to pick it up as coaches grow more comfortable with the personnel.

If we had the season opener on Thursday Id almost 100% assume it would be he Chiefs.

But that was baltimore’s Fault. The orioles were unwilling to change their schedule and since they share the parking lot with the ravens it would be impossible to play at the same time.

Edit: sorry I see this was already mentioned

Can’t wait to see Mack abuse Rodgers again

That’s because their stadium was being used by the Orioles. There’s no reason not to give the Patriots that slot.

Good I hate Thursday night games anyway.

Ravens couldn't play at home, because the Orioles had a game scheduled the same night. It was logistically impossible to move the game due to schedule conflicts with the White Sox. White Sox were in New York the day before and there wasn't another time to move the game to. Ravens openned on the road on Thursday night (and lost btw), but they still opened the season.
