One of the most experienced OT on the market is visiting Foxb. If healthy could be a solid addition at the start of second part of FA

Commentary I'm reading is he is distinctly average in the run blocking dept.

Note that there is an important deadline to the second part of FA: May 7.

1. After this day UFAs become compensatory free FAs so they dont count against comp picks.

2. “Deadline for prior club to send “May 7 Tender” to its unsigned Unrestricted Free Agents. If the player has not signed a player contract with a club by July 22 or the first scheduled day of the first NFL training camp, whichever is later, he may negotiate or sign a player contract from that date until the Tuesday following the 10th weekend of the regular season, at 4:00 p.m., New York time, only with his prior club.“

(Pats used this on Blount IIRC)

This year they could use it on some of their unsigned UFAs like:
OT John, LB McLellan, DT Shelton..

-.-

Yep swing OT. Hes fine but nothing to write home about

But .. thats one of the few things we have left to write home about..

esp. with both Wynn and Cajuste coming from injuries and Cannon not being a symbol of health either - ironically Veldheer is from their cloth..

btw - he would add to the long list of Germanic OLs for the Pats

Are there any others available? If not, then he's pretty much as good as signed. How else will they fill the position?

Better than Waddle.

Wynn replaces Brown,
Cannon is healthy and plays RT,
A draftee or Croston replaces Waddle as backup swing tackle.

Karras and a draftee play backup interior O-line (or Ferentz, but that seems unlikely)

So we don't really have a gaping hole unless Wynn isn't ready or Cannon isn't reliably healthy. I suppose that both of these are things to worry most about though.

Not German but Dutch. "Veldheer" means "General" (literally: field lord). Pretty good name for an O-Lineman.

I know its Dutch . Didn't say German, dear Brit .
When i went to school Dutch was/were still Germanic..

Nice (n)omen though..

Here is a guy who has the pedigree you are looking for in a back OT. He's started over a 100 games in the NFL so there is tons of film on him. He looks very much like Waddle did when he came in. The only real questions here are, "how much?" and/or "how much has he slipped"?

Wynn-Thuney-Andrews-Mason-Cannon
Cajuste-Froholdt-Karras-Veldheer

pretty damn solid.

Hmm ... not trying to start a fight, but there are a few million Dutch people who don't like the label (even though, of course, Pennsylvania "Dutch" ...)

Why always the worry? This is about depth and competition - its this time of the year..
They are not thinking about 53. They want to make the best 90.
No one is giving roster spots at this point in time (except for media and fans of course..)

Three very strong units : DB - RB - OL. Bodes well.
