U have heard he's a cerebral and in time might be able to learn the D. I think he is strong on ST and will work hard in all aspects of the game.

thanks, guys. looking forward to seeing the kid play.

Mincey showed plenty of hustle and was a decent tackler. I think his shortcomings are no more than you'd expect from any college DE trying to make the transition to OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

By comparision, Pierre Woods had prior experience at Michigan playing OLB in 3-4 sets, he did a better job at edge containment and was as effective a pass rusher. He also showed a better understanding of pass coverage (even if horribly raw in that area), he also had more Special Teams experience and it showed.

Mincey could be brought back later in the season when there is a slot to spare for giving him OLB training time, or they need a pass rusher to simulate Dwight Freeney - I won't say he is gone until the season is over and the NFLE players have been allocated.

Appreciate the detailed explanation!

Bottom line..two things seem to stick out
1---If you read betweem the lines in what Reiss said about him, iit seemed like he was not going all out to make the team.. comments about having a year ro learn the D..almost like he was coasting a bit because he was a draft pick..just the vines I got in reading..maybe didn't think he'd get cut BEVAUSE he was a draftee and NOT a UDFA.. Just a thought...
2----I was thinking that with only 8 slots they realized if he didn't make it, there were others in line for the Practice Sqd..I thought there would be some good competition for those slots and..it is amazing that the 7 were all NE cuts..usually that does not happen..says a lot about strength of the team..
