Edelman as third down back?

I guess Belichick is trying to find a role for Edelman, other than backup slot receiver and backup punt returner. After all, when Belichick wanted a change of pace receiver opposite Moss, he put in SLATER!!!??

I don't especially mind if Belichick lines a receiver up in the backfield, although my preference would be Hernandez, as we thought on Draft Day.

I just don't think it is good idea for Edelman to elarn to be a running back, and for Brady to depend on him for protection as he did with Faulk. Morris and even Woodhead are better in that role.

Definitely not Edelman. You have to remember backs need to be able to pick up the blitz. Edelman is simply too small to do that. Woodhead and Morris are the 3rd down backs and I think Woodhead has the potential to be a very effective one.
