Each Playoff Team's "Achilles' Heel"

What I like to see on here is that Dallas and Atlanta have Pass defense as their biggest flaw. This bodes well for us, should the Pats meet them later.

I would say ours is red zone offense, although I say that with no stats to back it up whatsoever.

Special teams seem fine to me, I think that writer just watched the Ravens game because it was nationally televised and the mistakes in that game stuck in his mind.

Special teams play has been a strength for this team over the past two months (the meltdown vs. Baltimore notwithstanding). Gost has found his groove, and the team has won the field position battle consistently.

Special teams? That is a reach.

Ghost appears to have resolved his issues while Cyrus Jones will not be returning kicks in the playoffs.

They had to come up with something.

FYI we are 8th in redzone offense: NFL Football Stats - NFL Team Red Zone Scoring Percentage (TD only) on TeamRankings.com
6 of the 7 teams above us are not in the playoffs.

Yeah, I think people assumed the red zone offense would suffer because of Gronk's injury, but it's been more than compensated for by the fact that we can now run on teams that know we're going to run. When you can do that, your red zone offense will always be pretty good. Of Blount's 18 TDs, I believe 10+ of them came from 1-2 yards out, because when we get in close we set up to run and only pass to keep defenses honest. It's an inversion of how we've worked in the past, and when you can pull it off it will always be more effective and less prone to falling apart on a bad day. Passing becomes much harder when the defense only has a few yards of field to cover, while running also becomes harder but much less so.

Also, our WRs are bigger than they used to be. Hogan and Mitchell aren't big, but they're big enough that their size doesn't become a liability at least. And Floyd... well, we all saw his last touchdown.

Possibly but I think he just looked at a bunch of DVOA's or stat sheets and wrote a story. Tough to watch and dissect all 16 games from each team and write a story.

Thanks...you are definitely less lazy than I am!

Yeah you might be right. Still, it is his job

lol. Definitely the "he had to find something" camp, but hard to take it seriously when last ranking I saw, the Pats were #4 in ST. #1 defense, pass rush dominating the last month, great 2ndary play, best QB, bruising running game, Oline the best it's been in years, good selection of WR and even have Bennett to replace Gronk... so yeah, there's no weaknesses there. None.

The Pats achilles heel? Just having a flat out bad game. That's it. That's the only way they lose.

Well, if that's all they got on us, I'm feeling pretty good. Amedola will hopefully be back for the playoffs and Ghost was looking much better, although he did miss a long FG on Sunday, albeit on a crappy field. We've just got to hope that the Good Ghost shows up for the playoffs!

the idiots in the media will focus on his issues in the baltimore game.
