Duke Dawson to IR: still plans for him to return.

More interested in how **** dries on a white wall than what the captain thinks about this.

The reality is that none out of Rivers, Wynn, Dawson really had any relevant injury history. 2 freak accidents (ACL, achillies) and a damn hammy. He will be back to make a push after the BYE it is just a hamstring.
I ask because @captain stone already hated the Dawson pick.

People really getting their panties in a bunch about a partial season [possibly] IR? You'd rather cut Jones or Jackson?

I don't think anybody really knows except for Kraft, BB, maybe TB and maybe JAG.
Well John Lynch said BB laughed him off the phone line when he asked about Brady. That’s doesn’t sound like someone that was forced to trade JAG over Brady.

Who cares? So Dawson will spend 8 weeks on IR and 8 weeks on the Inactive List instead of 16 weeks on the Inactive List. It is just a label - why does anyone care what we call it when a rookie does not play? If he is not active and contributing in 2019 we can be concerned. If anyone is injured, Crossen or Jackson will play.

They put Izzo on IR because they knew they could sign Anderson. Now Dawson can return and one other. Or two others and Dawson can return in 2019. Makes no difference.

Michel is different. RB can contribute a lot in Year 1. Hope to see Michel in game 3 or 4.

Dawson being on IR means his injury is worse than we'd thought. It had been said that he'd be ready by Week 1. Also hurts his development since he won't be able to practice. It's never a good thing to see a rookie (or anyone) on IR.

That said, the depth at CB makes this easier to deal with.

Way too early to call that. But the last four drafts before this one have been underwhelming. Furthermore, four of the last five drafts have seen the Patriots' #1 pick lost for the year. Bill is very lucky he's had Brady. That kind of luck (or lack thereof) with the draft would set many teams back years, maybe even a decade. But this team keeps humming along because they have Brady and a solid core of leadership.

The 2015 draft was pretty solid. It's really the 2nd round DBs that have been the killer, which is ironic given the CBs they've found late in the draft and in UDFA

Not sure I follow. Then what do you think is the reason he was traded out of the blue?

Idt it was out of blue.

Seemed like a calculated risk they had planned for.

They opted for insurance in case Brady went down over leverage they had earlier.

I believe they could have got more if they traded him earlier & would have shipped him out for max roi but I understand why they made the decision they did.

welp...looks like Duke is puke..

Another wasted 2nd round DB pick. I have no doubt we will get mediocre production from him for a simple reason, this team is cursed in the 2nd round and they keep drafting DBs instead of assuming its not working and change this approach for no reason other than bad luck.

Ah yes, curses. Those definitely real and not at all made up things that should affect the way you evaluate and select players. Wish you were running the team. "WE LOST BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T HOLD YOUR BREATH WHEN WE DROVE PAST THAT GRAVEYARD, SONY!!!!"

Just another 2nd round DB bust. It’s funny to me how B.B. covets 2nd round picks yet sucks at picking in the 2nd round besides one home run 8 years ago. How many 2nd round picks left on the patriots roster besides Gronkowski?

The day before the trade deadline, when his value would have dropped to near zero (a future compensatory pick) is "out of the blue"??

Were you surprised by the sunrise this morning?

See Matt Cassel in '09 FA.
