Drew Bledsoe: It took me a while before I could cheer for the pats

2001 would have been Bledsoe's last year in NE, no matter what happened (short of a very deep playoff run by Drew).
I think if he played all season that team would have been about 5-11 again.

I just listened to a long interview with Zolak about what it was like when Drew came to town, and my impression was that Drew wasn't very coachable. Drew grew up as a coach's son and was the big dog all his life. Dad escorted him to the start of training camp. Even at the time we heard that he'd push back hard on Parcells's coaching. Very entitled kind of guy. Nothing like the humility you see from Brady.

I don't think we'd see Drew taking dance lessons in the offseason. Too much quality time to be had on the lake at Whitefish.
There was another article or book excerpt of drew's coachability or lack there of where Drew went out for the coin toss when playing for buffalo and the coaches asked him specifically to take a certain direction and just ignored it.

I thought that interview was honest and perfectly fine. Loved Bledsoe while he was here.

He took a beating and put up Marino-like numbers for a few years there. Can't blame a guy for being a little hurt after losing his job to an injury. Seems like a really good guy to me.

He did not out up Marino like numbers other than amount of attempts.

Drew is a great guy & living a great post football life. Looks better in the rear view mirror to me.

It still is taking me a while to believe that Bledsoe is any better than Neil Lomax, or that he is honored like some kind of hero here and Julius Adams is not

What, the most interesting thing is how Julius Adams is not honored. That's not true is it? I agree, he was a true patriot that unfortunately played his last game in the worst game in Patriots history (at the time, second now).

Juli came back and played in '87 before retiring for good.

Looking at his career, leadership, and loyalty to the Patriots, it is unfathomable for him not to be in the Pats' HOF. He didn't speak much, but whenever he did he spoke for the entire Patriots organization, the fans and all of New England. He did most of his talking out there on the field. There is simply no way to measure it...the team faced kinds of denigration and adversity that the players today, even with trumped up (sorry) charges of rule-breaking, could never even imagine. Julius was here through it all, and he made sure that no matter what, his teammates understood the fact that never mind our owner's problems, we were the good guys, and the real winners on and off the field.

Are there any cardiologists here on Patsfans who can offer me advice watching Sunday's game?
Take deep breaths. Focus on the game plan, and Pats' execution of it. Be ready for a marathon. Stay positive. Follow Tom's advice and hydrate, especially if you're imbibing too. Support your fellow fans & family members. Enjoy it!

We had some huge fights in the forum that year leading up to the Super Bowl.
It was pretty much right down the middle ... Brady fans vs Bledsoe loyalists.
Had to be brutal on Drew ... no question.
Kraft's fault, ruining our uniforms and insanely proclaiming Bledsoe the G.O.A.T. (prior to '01 season).

No way ever I would consider starting Bledsoe over Parilli, Plunkett, Grogan, Flutie, Brady or even others. If I wanted to win the game.

This is completely insane. Parcells and Bledsoe made this team relevant again. Drew was a franchise QB before the game changed around him. The disrespect here is sickening. But, typical hypocritical fans. Root for laundry but expect loyalty from the players when it comes time to negotiate a contract.

Obviously Brady became a better QB. Drew did not have his work ethic. Several stories have come out that illuminate this fact. But as far as pure talent, pure physical ability to throw a football- Drew dominated Tom. We were lucky to get to see him play. That game winner against Miami with a broken finger is one of my favorite Patriots memories of all time.

Kraft didn't change the uniform from Pat Patriot to Flying Elvis. That was Orthwein .
