32 CB Peters

64 OG Jackson

96 DT Bennett

97 WR Hardy

At 101, the following are available (OG Kouanjo, RB Johnson, RB Abdullah, and ILB Pullard)

There is no way that BB takes CB Peters. I just cannot see it. He might work out, but he is a huge risk to screw up.

So, the issue is whether belichick is satisfied with the character of Peters. If he is, then the pick can be the 5th of the top corners (DRAFTEK suggests Peters). The rest are gone by 32 (Waynes, Collins, Johnson and Jones).

If Belichick is NOT satisfied with Peters, then OL seems the best value, with several players available at 32. We could then pick among the second tier corners at 64, or with a slight trade up or down. DRAFTEK has the next six corners being picked between 62 and 82).

This is an interest gap, 7-32 and then 62-89.

I've got to agree that Peters doesn't fit BB's mindset at 32. BB doesn't really gamble with first round picks. They are generally players he is confident will be starters for him very early, and usually have the makings of team captaincy (McCourty, Hightower, Solder, Jones, Mayo, Wilfork, Mankins). Easley was maybe his biggest first round gamble in 15 years, and even so the guy's intangibles are through the roof--if he gets healthy he projects as the keystone of the DL. Guys like Moroney, Meriweather and Watson, who didn't get a 2nd contract, are the "busts" of the first round...but even so they were all starters for us in their time.

Does Peters meet that bar? I think he's far less certain than any of the rest of BBs first rounders.

When BB does take a risk he waits until the 2nd for high ceiling gambles like Collins, Gronkowski, who are no slouches. Using those two as a model, I think Peters becomes interesting for BB in the mid-2nd.

I have absolutely no Comment.

I just want to applaud your Avatar, Brother Fred!!
