I agree. I used to think that, but it is a bit nuanced. Coaching versus talent is not cut and dry. Coaching can cover weaknesses, but not gaps, if that makes sense. I think BB would agree to, after 2006 he went and got Moss and Welker because there was a gap he could not fix.

Kraft got caught up in the whole DEI mania. He likes to be admired by his fellow owners and also his celebrity rapper acquaintances. Hiring Mayo in there scored bonus woke DEI points for Kraft.
Mayo is now the poster child for what can go wrong with DEI hires if the hire occurs for non merit based reasons.

Those other teams were either reaching, or using him for the Rooney nonsense.
