Draft worst case has emerged for Pats at 4

Go ahead and draft your left tackle at #4.

If indeed he is more suited to playing guard, kick him inside to LG in 2026. In the meantime consider signing a vet, warts and all, as temporary bandaid insurance to the rookie.

In '06 either sign the top ranked free agent LT, or draft your your future LT in the first round then.

Just spitballing here. But you can't just ignore the position; got to have a better plan than last year (hoping either Chuks or a 3rd round RT will work out at the position).

Glad you know exactly what the Browns and Giants are going to do. How'd you get inside access to their draft boards?
Another thing to consider is NEVER believe the rumors flying around at this point in the draft. Teams are going into deliberate smokescreen mode to try to maintain whatever value their pick or position will have. So a lot of outright LIES and false rumors are circulating.

I've been watching the draft for years and two things inevitably happen, QB's rise and are taken early, and a couple of talented guys end up falling who should have been taken earlier than they did.

A Ward/Sanders 1-2 to start the draft wouldn't surprise me at all. The curveball pick to me is the Giants at #3.

They need a QB imo and would love to have Sanders drop to them. Ward won't be there. It might be too early for Dart except Jets are supposedly high on Dart and waiting at #7. It's going to be interesting to see who is BPA on their board at #3 and who they take.

Yes, it is absolutely terrible to pick before 28 teams in every round plus have an additional 3rd. ROFL!
Yes, it is terrible to pick before 28 teams in every round because that means you are the 4th worst team in the NFL. You may be happy picking at #4 but the rest of us would much rather be #32.

This year is especially bad to be #4 based on the extreme dropoff between the top 3 prospects and the rest of the draft.

I cannot f'ing believe I actually had to explain that to someone in here..... might I suggest you go root for the Jets? Your loser mentality would fit in much better over there.

Browns AND Giants not taking qb
Picking 4th in draft with 3 blue chppers
No team has to trade up to 4 to get Sanders
Top LTs all with major downsides
Trade demand for 4th pick likely to be low

They are locked in to having to draft a short armed LT with a 4th overall pick

Not ideal

Pick 38 will be critical
Can not have another draft like last year in roubds 2-7
Always a ray of sunshine Sam

Dart is going to keep rising between now and the draft

I like the strategy of drafting the LT and getting a veteran to be the bridge to the rookie... if that LT is Josh Simmons. Then the Pats could sign someone like D.J. Humphries, who played well for the Cardinals before his ACL injury, and had a lost season with the Chiefs last year. He could probably be had at a discount in a prove-it type deal, and when Simmons is ready he could step in and be the LT whether it's during this season or next season. But I'm not advocating for Simmons at #4, only if there is a big trade-down from 4 to the mid-teens, or if there is a trade-up to get a second 1st rounder. This year is a weaker-than-normal draft to get a LT in the first round, so I wouldn't do it at #4 with better players available. Trading down though and getting added capital, sure.

Mayo screwed himself with his abysmal Coaching: among other things Mr: one and done. He'll be on the Highschool level soon enough...he isn't ready for the College or Pro Level.
I blame it on Kraft he knew he was putting Mayo in a bad spot. Mayo does get blame for not getting himself ready for the moment. I know it would be hard to turn down the money but why take a job you know you are not ready for.

Cleveland - Giants - Raiders - Jets and Saints all need QB's. J Milroe is a possibility for all but he ain't pro ready. I'm a huge fan of J Dart... people are sleeping on Q Ewers.
Quinn most definitely put the EWW in Ewers

What’s going to happen if BOTH hunter and Carter are available at 4?
The Pats will trade down to the 7-10 range to get more picks. Just to tick off the Fudds in Patriot Nation.

I would go with Jeanty if Hunter is gone at 4... We need a RB to get some pressure off of Maye...
NO JEANTY!!! TE, DL, and LB are better picks than Jeanty in the Top 15. I'd even take Tyler Booker for LG than before I'd take a RB. Good RB's (Day 1 Starters can be had on Days 2 and 3. And we have more pressing needs and better choices in the 1st Round than a RB.

Left Tackle. Prefer Simmons, will accept Campbell.

It is the best pick the Pats can make this year.
That anyone is even considering us taking a RB in the 1st Round is ridicules!

A RB being taken in the top 10 has to have elite type ability. If you don't think he'll be potential top back in the league, don't do it.
