Belichick has made a draft day trade with the Eagles every year in New England. Last season he traded pcik 193 for 194 straight up. Obviously trying to keep it going. Wonder what they will do this year? Philly does have 9 picks. Could be a good team to try to stock up some extra picks for later in the draft.

Isn't the "draft day trade streak" one of those oft-reported but actually not correct things?

Think they've made a trade every season since 2000, but not always over draft weekend

Pleasantly surprised there was no reference to Asante Samuel

asante samuel plus a 2nd rounder for a 4th rounder

Patriots trade pick #27 and Wes Welker to the Eagles

Patriots receive pick #15 and a 4th rd pick

Aside from the fact that he can't be traded as long as he hasn't signed his tender. . . .

If I were BB, I doubt I'd trade WWW for #15 straight up.

A$ante $amuel?

No thanks!

And that "$" is the only reason he's not on another team right now. The Eagles supposedly are willing to take as low as a 5th or 6th for him, but it's his cap hit that's holding things up.

The amusing thing is that Samuel is willing to "restructure" his contract to facilitate a trade.

Unless he's willing to take an axe to his salary, the Iggles would have to *cough up* a third before I'd even consider taking him with that salary.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me if both the Eagles and Samuel get screwed over by this. Samuel will get cut and not get nearly his original salary as a free agent, and the Eagles won't get anything for him in a trade. They'd both be better off if he takes a true pay cut and gets traded.

Can you imagine the effort you would get out of Asante with a huge cut in pay? No thanks, this guy by perception hasn't loved football in years.
