Olandis Gary is the product of the Denver O line. I thought that was fairly common knowledge. Unless of course you're saying that Davis is the product of that dominating Houston O line.

not at all, but it gives one pause--after all--Droughns did decent when healthy this season, Portis is a stud, and Mike Anderson and Tatum Bell both did great even after Mora moved on...so maybe there is a little more to it than the Denver OL?

regardless

LenDale just had back to back runs that included a stiff arm for 10+ in the red zone and then a between the tackles stutter-step for the TD

no chopped liver that one

Doesn't look that way. His last team was listed as the Lions in 2004. I'm sure he's not officially out of the NFL, probably still looking for work.

ESPNews reports the Detroit Lions have released RB Olandis Gary.

wow, u guys are way off base

dom davis is a very solid back, and yes hes gotten injured, but if we could trade for him with for anything less than a first rounder id do it in a heartbeat

wats funny, is ive been thinking of this exact issue for over a month now, since i am a very big dom davis fan

might i remind u he had 68 catches last year

while he only had two rushing tds this yr, he had 13 last yr

this yr he had 4 rec. tds

the biggest thing of all, hes from LSU

a lot of ppl that draft had us taking labrandon toefield
he used to split carries with dom davis, which is why both of them slipped

i personally feel that houston should trade back
they need more than just reggie bush, who i think wont be as good as ppl believe

anyway, if houston keeps that number one pick and takes bush, the pats should def trade for dom davis

Overrated? I haven't hardly heard two words about him the entire season. A running back that manages 2 1,000 yd season and almost a third behind that O line is alright by me. I don't know where you got the whole tissue paper thing either. He played in 14 and 15 games his first two seasons and only got hurt this season. I would give up a 3rd. for him no questions asked.

he get paid 4mill + per year, plus Dillons 5.5, plus faulks 2.2 that is almost 12mil for the rb position. Plus you want to give a choice Such as Hobbs or Kascur who we have for four years each at 300.000 per year. And he is worse than travis henry at blitz pick-up.

Im not one who thinks a 1,000 yard season over 16 games is something that should elevate a back to elite status. There have been a lot of backs over the years who have had 1,000 seasons. Some of them have been very good. Others, not so much. James Allen? Lamar Smith?

According to NFL.COM Davis has played in 11 games this year and finished the season with 976 yards rushing and a whopping 2 TDs. In 2003, he missed four games. One has to wonder if Houston is so fond of him, why then would there be talk of them wanting Bush? It's not as if there aren't needs all across the Houston roster.

That said, I agree. I would probably give up a 3rd but with minimal expectations.

This is true, but i don't understand why you measure a runningback on simply one category - yards. It is deceptive to do so because Dom Davis is a much more complete player. He is an excellent reciever and has a nose for the endzone. 13 rushing, 1 recieving with almost 600 yards recieving last year. While he was injured this year his stats were limited, but so were Dillon's and Faulk's. Somebody elses argument about durability is foolishness. Have you forgotten Faulk and Dillon? How would we be any worse off with Davis?

negative, never have called D&C, never really listen to them either...

If we had the opportunity to land Davis, I wouldn't be opposed to forcing Dillon's hand. He's clearly on the back end of his career and can no longer be relied on. If the opportunity arose that we could get a 25 year old RB for a 3rd. I would have to ask Dillon to restructure or start shopping for a new team.

heres something slightly OT...
If we could, would you accept Steve Smith?

I <3 Dillon. :-(
I want him to retire here...

I know, I like him too but given the chance to get younger, business is business. I would like to keep him but he's wearing down. He would be great here in a situational role for the next 2 or 3 seasons but I don't think he's got many 20 plus carry games left in him.

If Houston decides they want to keep the top pick and draft Bush maybe we could help them by trading for Domanic Davis who just signed a 3yr $21 million deal. If we win the SB then our no. 1 isn't worth much and I don't think it would be enough to get Davis by itself. But, maybe our first and our third for Davis? Maybe a switch of fourths could be added in. Remeber we have Baltimore's third also, and an extra fourth too. The devil is in the details here of course but the real question is would Davis be worth trading for at all? Given his youth, fixed salary, proven production as a hard nosed runner, he seems an attractive replacement for Dillon. We'd never get him for a second alone like Dillon but a very low first rounder plus one of our thirds (and maybe a switch of fourth round picks) might seem like a pretty good deal...

Just having fun here....

Fun or no, I like the way you think. It had crossed my mind as well to trade some of those picks for a stud, but we've got to get a youth movement going, especially on D.
