Dolphins Week - Dolphins Fan Check In

Pats will look great on D, but will have some coordination gaffes that lead to big plays.

Pats O may stop itself at times, but w/ over 450 total yards, it won't be too many.

Pats 34 - Fins 20

Apparently rookie RB Daniel Thomas is banged up, so Miami has signed Larry Johnson; I hadn't even noticed that he was with the Dolphins in training camp.

I read quite a few reports that injury wasn't the problem for D. Thomas - more that he wasn't getting the hang of pass protection at all.

I don't think he was that effective running the ball in the limited opportunities that he was given, either.

Hey, man. No hard feelings. Going back over my attitude and demeanor of the early days (yes, I did think Daunte Culpepper was the savior,) I was a douche. I was young, and I wasn't very bright.

I'm here to talk football and objectively. No hard feelings to any one and yes, this is Aqua4Ever04 for those that remember. I seek forgiveness, and wish to prohibit banashiment. Lol
Welcome back Aqua, hey a few of us including myself gave you a pretty hard time, although it was in good fun im sure it didn't feel that way.

Pats Offense against Miami's Defense.

The Dolphins Front 7 is pretty damn good. With Soliai in the middle flanked by Merling, Starks, Odrick. For the LBers, they've got Dansby, Misi, Taylor, and Wake. Burnett may or may not be good in that system, only time will tell. On the Corners, the Phins have two of the younger and better ones in the league in Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. Smith is someone I had actually wanted the Pats to draft, but they went in another direction.
The question becomes the safeties and the 3rd CB for the Phins. Can those three cover guys like Hernandez, Gronkowski and OchoCinco.

Last year, the Pats held Wake to 2 sacks and 5 hurries in 2 games. To me, that is a success.

What the Phins will face is a 100% healthy Brady with a fantastic array of weapons. The Pats O-Line looks to be improved with Waters taking over at RG for Connolly and Mankins being on the field (unlike the 1st game against Miami last year). The weapons include Welker, Branch, OchoCinco, Price, Edelman, Slater, Hernandez and Gronkowski. Not to mention the running attack of Green-Ellis and Woodhead, supported by Ridley and Vereen.

People talk about Welker being the person to stop, but Brady has no issues with going to his TEs. Both Hernandez and Gronkowski have proven to be very good, but not yet ELITE, TEs.

The Pats will not be able to stop Cameron Wake. But they don't have to. They just need to contain him on 95% of the plays. If they do that, then Brady and the others should be able to be efficient and put points on the board.

Miami Offense vs. Pats Defense
Miami has revamped their O-line. They've added Marc Columbo, formerly of Cowboys, to be their starting RT, shifting Vernon Carey inside to RG and Richie Incognito from RG to LG. They've also added Mike Pouncey at center. Pouncey is definitely going to get a lot of learning on how to deal with Wilfok and the other dominant NTs in the league. On top of that Jake Long and Carey are both returning from injuries from last year.

The RB corps for the Phins has been re-vamped. Gone are long time Phins Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams. Also gone is Patrick Cobbs who played decently in a back-up/STs role for the Phins. In is Reggie Bush, Daniel Thomas and Larry Johnson. Bush has been injury prone in his career, having only one FULL season, his rookie season. Daniel Thomas is a rookie and was banged up very recently to the point that Miami felt the need to re-sign Larry Johnson, whom they had just cut recently. The other issue is that Miami no longer has battering ram and short yardage specialist Lousaka Polite. It remains to be seen if Clay can handle the lead blocking for the Phins.

The TE position is also one in flux for the Phins. The Phins are returning Anthony Fasano and Jeron Mastrud. However, the Phins were not happy with the others they had signed in the off-season. Since the 53 man cut-downs, the Phins have plucked and pilfered the waiver wire and street cuts to add Donte Rosario (cut from the Broncos), Will Yeatman (a lacrosse player turned TE whom is extremely raw)

The Pats defense has been over-hauled again. Gone are Tully Banta-Cain, Eric Moore, James Sanders, Brandon Meriweather, and Darius Butler. In are Mark Anderson, Sean Ellis, Albert Haynesworth, and Andre Carter. The Pats are also returning starting CB Leigh Bodden. DT/DE Mike Wright and Myron Pryor are also healthy for the Pats. At linebacker, the Pats are returning Standout Jerod Mayo, youngsters Brandon Spikes, Dane Fletcher, and Jermaine Cunningham.

At corner, the Pats have an outstanding youngster in Devin McCourty who will start opposite Leigh Bodden. Kyle Arrington figures to go outside during nickle situations with Bodden moving into the slot. Rookie Ras-I Dowling will probably see time as the 4th corner in Dime situations.

The Pats made their moves with the intentions of fixing their D-line so they could bring more pressure on QBs by the Front 7. If they can do that, then Henne will have issues and the Pats should capitalize. However, if the Phins re-vamped O-line can keep Henne upright, then the Phins have a good chance of winning this.

I honestly believe it's too close to call, but I would point the money on the points..

Aqua - A few things. You still need to proof read your stuff because, while you are significantly better at your punctuation, your spelling still stinks. Beyond that, looks pretty good. I didn't do the math (your wins/losses should total 512 when added together) because I decided to go easy on you.

A Bettor is someone who bets. Better is an adjective.

Who is Tony Gonzales?? I am sure you meant Tony Gonzalez.

Not sure how you can say that the depth on the Dolphins D-line is better than that of the Pats D-line.

Also, how can you trash Andy Levitre when he is, arguably, their best guard. And better than Richie Incognito.

I know, I know, I do most of the writing when I'm at work so I barely have time to gather the content, let alone proof read it, I was really hoping the editor would do it, oh well.

The total number of wins and losses is correct. You should always get 256 wins, I went through the schedule and picked who would win each game; that's how I do my predictions. In the end, the wins were 256.

The Dolphins defensive line is our greatest strength; I will argue to the cows come home that Miami's DL is much better than the Patriots. Then again, we run entirely different schemes so it's kind of a difficult comparison. Vince Wilfork IS better than anyone we have up there, but Kendall Langford and Randy Starks are both better than anybody ELSE the Pats have. And Tony McDaniel and Jared Odrick are knockin on that door as well.

Andy Levitre is a horrible player. I hated him at Oregon State, I hated him during Senior Bowl week, and I hate him as a pro. He has no fluidity in his game, his athleticism is dispicable and he isn't even a true mauler. He might be better than Kraig Urbik, the other guard, but note that I called him the worst right guard in football as well.

Good to be back, man.

Typical dolphin fan, making excuses for the 2 blowout losses against us last season.

When did I make an excuse? We got our asses beat thoroughly two seperate times. It was embarrassing. No one is making excuses.

Larry Johnson back with the Miami Dolphins: What's it mean? | Sun-Sentinel

I haven't seen Johnson play in a while, but last I saw him he was running like a guy with a whole lot of tread worn off those tires.

Word is that DT pull a hammy. I'm not fond of the rookie. I feel he's a poor man's Ronnie Brown. Larry Johnson is really just a band-aide at this point. I do like Reggie Bush, but even the most optimistic Phins homer can't say they trust him to shoulder a 300 carry workload this year.

Whatever man, what's done is done. I asked for it. We get some punk Jets fans at thephins.com and I treat them the way you treated me because they DESERVE it.

I still hate your football team, but I can at least respect the home grown fan base that is here.

You blamed the first loss on special teams goofs, and the second on resting your starters.

Didn't they cut Larry Johnson?

I have the Patriots losing in the Super Bowl to the Packers this year, so I think they're a great team.

However, I think the Haynesworth move was a foolish one. I don't think he'll be a Patriot at season's end.

I have the Pats winning the Super Bowl.

We did lose the first game on special teams.

And I see your sarcasm meter isn't working, clearly a 7-8 team wouldn't be resting it starters; I was saying it was LIKE we were because of how badly we played.

Its the internet, so simple to see when someone is being sarcastic. That was sarcasm..
