He got to two Super Bowls with the Giants, one courtesy of a 49er fumble as they were trying to ice the game, won two, one courtesy of a barely missed field goal.

He scores MAJOR points for turning around the Patriots, gets them to the playoffs in his second year here, takes a slight step back his third year, then gets them to the Super Bowl his fourth year here. Things were lined up for a great run, but he chose to go to the Jets, and turned them around, got them to the AFC Championship game his second year there, then Vinnie blew out his tendon and that was that.

On to the Cowboys, where he got them to the playoffs but never won a playoff game.

So there you go; three Super Bowl trips, two wins and four Conference Championships tells me yes..................

I say no. If Parcells and his 2 Super Bowl titles get him in, Oakland's Tom Flores should be in, too. He'll get in, though, because the NFL HOF is more watered down than the NBA HOF, which really says something.

Also turned 4 non play off teams into contenders.

Maybe the worse thing he has against him was his lack of loyalty to franchises. But that aside, he belongs.

I agree with this and like to add with out Bill Belichick he did have much success at all.

Parcells ABSOLUTELY belongs in the Hall. He turned around EVERY TEAM he coached - in big ways. This isn't even a contest.

Belichick was the chief Parcells disciple, learned more from him than from anyone else and improved tremendously between his Browns stint and the Pats head coaching job, while asst head coach to Parcells.

He sure does...2 SB Championships...2 NFC and 2 AFC Championship appearances...turned 2 losing franchises around (Pats & Jets). And he has a nice bright white smile to boot.

Yeah, it was an incredible defensive effort in Super Bowl XXV given that Belichick had no say in the grocery shopping for the Giants and the fact that Parcells, as head coach, had the power to overrule any playcalling his coordinators make at any given time. Belichick may be Giants defensive coordinator, but no way was that his defense. It was Parcells'.
And my most vivid recollection of that game was how the Giants offense grinded out the clock, which was also a factor in the game.

I voted Yes BTW... Tuna absolutely is a HoF coach.

He'll get in, but I don't think he belongs. He is above average, which is a great compliment, but not great. Some former thoughts:

He never won a playoff game without BB coaching his defense. I usually don't give creedence to the whole "never did anything without so-and-so" argument, but in this case the evidence is overwhelming. All of Parcells' successful teams were all about the defense and BB had a lot of autonomy. You hear stories about how Parcells was clueless about a defensive game plan and basically told BB "it better work". RayClay we started to discuss this two years ago, and I'll still disagree with you entirely. Did you read Education of A Coach yet? To call Belichick a "Parcells disciple" is ridiculous. Belichick is a Steve Belichick disciple, maybe an Ernie Adams disciple if you like, but by no means was he ever under Parcells. They no doubt learned from each other, but don't forget who was coaching in the NFL first!

In hindsight, okay, Parcells is probably in BB's top-20, but I still say he's not in the top 10 and to put him first (i.e. disciple) is just non-sensical.
