Does anyone think there is a chance Mayo is one and done?

I was thinking about something similar to this. i was hoping Vrabel as HC and Stefanski as OC...obviously assuming he is fired by cleveland
For Kraft to replace Mayo with Vrabel would be flouting the spirit of the "Rooney Rule". I think Kraft is big time into virtue signaling and it would be really hard for him to reverse himself on the Mayo hire, despite it proving to be a ridiculous mistake.

Phil Perry: "In the last five days or so, just talking to people within the organization, the certainty with which I felt Jerod Mayo was locked into this job for 2025 because of what I had been told, has shifted. And now it’s not as certain in my opinion, as it was before that Chargers game."

I guess we will see

nobody knows anything.

Is the first domino to fall Mayo or Wolf

Or are they both safe and Covington and AVPs crew falls on their swords?

Apparently Jahlani Tavai did an interview on WEEI this morning and he was asked about fans booing. Apparently he said he doesn’t like it and that “fans need to know their place.”
Contributing to the existence of the product on the field in which you Mr Tavai are being given sustenance and security through payment for your play? That role?

Any chance Mayo says **** it this ain't worth it and resigns?

Kraft doomed himself with promising Mayo the job. You wonder if the Mayo hiring was his push to get into the Hall of Fame. Now he's stuck in this situation where he can't get rid of Mayo without it reflecting negatively on him. Kraft isn't getting any younger. He may depart this earth with his once great franchise in absolute disarray. I think Mayo gets another season to sink the franchise even further into the abyss.

Well that's the thing. He hired Mayo and it wasn't enough to push him into the HOF. So, now what? Keeping Mayo isn't going to get him into the HOF, because Mayo sucks. Being a bad team like this for additional years only hurts him more. Firing Mayo may look "bad" from a certain point-of-view and hurt him short-term too, but getting the team back into relevancy and winning will get him into the HOF over time.

We are the laughing stock of the NFL. The Jets still exists and we are the laughing stock of NFL.

Let that sink in.

Kraft got blind drunk on woke, picked up a HC while he was wearing his woke beer goggles, and is now waking up from his stupor only to discover his sweetie is coyote ugly and he can't find the keys to the handcuffs.

So now after 16 games there is a sense of urgency to coach well.
It’s clear the guy thought he could be cruising this year and that his job was safe.

His comment at after 3-4 weeks that he will be better in year 2 really bugged me. Just get better week to week bro. It’s like in his mind this season didn’t count. What a joke

I really hope the « Fire Mayo » chant will be loud Sunday

not sure if anyone has vocalized this thought yet but,

What if this was the plan the whole time. What if Robert wanted vrable but was told in not so subtle terms that if they signed him during the offseason the titans would open up a tampering case, after what he said that the HOF thing about how special it is here. So kraft kind of got ****ed over, and looked back and was like, hey remember when the sox had to let cora go for a season as a punishment, and hired some jackass that everyone knew was going to suck for a season? lets do that, lets hire Mayo for a year, give him a nice little golden parachute, we'll suck for a year and then bring vrable in in 2025 with 130 mil, let him choose his own staff, and maybe a high draft pick.

How much hopium am i sniffing.

The thought crept in my mind earlier today.

In the next few days the pats could have the #1 overall pick, $120 million in cap space, a new HC & front office. They also could have the 4th overall pick with Mayo & Wolf returning. We're going to learn a lot about the Krafts soon.

Mayo had a contract that he was coach in waiting long before that HOF affair
Right after Mayo rub n tugged Kraft in Israel he was in like Schwartz

I don’t think it was a complete secret master plan but maybe parts of this are true. It could explain why the Patriots never tried to talk to Vrabel - because of tampering issues and Mayo’s buyout situation. So they just begrudgingly said “oh well” and went with Mayo. But now a year later Vrabel is unexpectedly still out there, but courting the Jets, and your guy (Mayo) is a dumpster fire of epic proportions.

I

I think Josh is more versatile than you and some others give him credit for.
He can def create the prefect offense to use Mayes strengths and limit his weaknesses.
Van Pelt is more about his mechanics his footwork and a cool head to talk to.
Mcdaniels is more a game planner play designer and a firefly guy when he needs to be.
I think it could work.

Name one offensive coordinator who changed the offensive system they run/ran during their career?

It doesn’t happen.

I saw a theory that it makes some sense.

If they decide to fire AVP, what if they bring Josh or Daboll to be the OC with a wink wink deal that if Mayo doesn’t work at all they take over HC. That would be the fastest way for these guys to get back at HC, for Josh maybe the only one. I’m not sure they want to take a step back and revert to coordinators to get another shot in who knows, 3 years or more.

That would also be the only way to fire Mayo mid season and doesn’t blow up the season completely, if that’s even possible because firing mid season means the W-L record would be catastrophic. And if they keep Mayo for me there is a strong chance of that happening.
