Do we really make an attempt to re-sign Eugene Wilson, the one year wonder?

They will sign him if they can get him at what they consider value, which I'm pretty sure is pretty cheap. I suspect that his name will Land him a bigger contract than he's earned. Willie Andrews, Meriweather, Sanders, Baker, Eddie Jackson. Could be okay, but I'll bet we draft someone, too. (Assuming Rodney retires, which I don't think will necessarily be the case.)

I've always felt that Gay was a craptastic player.

Well then you're not watching and/or just being stubborn.

I think Hobbs is good but not a leader-type guy.

Really? I think he IS a leader-type guy, just not that good.

IMO, they let him walk. They need the compensatory draft pick.

They would only get a compensatory pick IF they didn't sign anyone.

I've always liked Wilson but the guy is never on the field.

What do you mean he's never on the field.. He had 2 great years for the Pats, NOT one like many have said in this thread. No, he hasn't been the same since he broke his arm in SB38. He played the entire 2005 season where he had a revolving door next to him at SS and they didn't have any ILBs to speak of through the 1st half of the season. But he did play the ENTIRE season.

Wilson missed 12 games in 2006. And he's missed 1 game so far in 2007.

In case people have missed it, BB and the training staff have been babying injuries over the past 3 seasons. So I am not surprised about them being cautious with the likes of the Jacksons and Wilson.. They did NOT have to IR Gay last year, but they CHOSE to because they wanted to ensure his health.

I could, very well, see them keeping Wilson. But I could ALSO see them letting him walk. Wilson's status with the team will depend, greatly, on the development of Meriweather, Andrews, and Baker through the rest of the season. If Meriweather is pushing for Wilson's playing time, then i doubt we'll see Wilson back, unless its as a Nickel Corner.

No. Let him go to free agency and see what the market is. He plays perhaps the easiest position on the field for a rookie to come in and perform.

I say we offer him Patriot type offer.
Relative to value and have no fear if he leaves.
Expect us to pick up 4 Comp picks next offseason.

for comp picks they weigh who you lose versus who you bring in. they ain't getting much
