The Pats main complaint against Chayut was failure to negotiate.

Each side made their initial offer but then Chayut refused to make

a counter offer. It was accept the initial offer or sign a paper

promising not to franchise Deon next year. Now that Deon has an

offer from the Jets, there may be some room for negotiating.

Jonathan Kraft indicated that the Pats offer was an initial one

I think maybe Deion talked to several agents who advised him not to hold out and to honor his contract. Then Chayut told him what he wanted to hear, so he hired Chayut. In the end, it's always the player's responsibility. The agent works for the player.
