Difference Between Sporano and Belichick

Somewhere, there's a line between showing enthusiasm and looking like an idiot. Somehow, wherever that line is, Sparano manages to cross it. His demeanor with the media only reinforces that perception.

He's had one good season, with Bill Parcells whispering in his ear and arguably pulling the strings, before Tuna decided that was no fun.

Sparano is now clearly under a lot of pressure with the media and fans over Henne in particular and the team in general, so it's no surprise that he'd overreact when Chad takes the team down the field like a knife through butter on its opening drive on Monday night.

But, he's got a lot bigger problems than excessive exuberance and, if the Fins dig a big enough hole for themselves this season, he could be gone early...and he knows it.

I was actually afraid that Sparano would be the Doofins' answer for HC, esp. after their Wildcat-fueled PO appearance in '08. Now, however, it's clear that he's just another clueless fool who also has a completely hateable personalty. Watching his fist-pumping reaction after Gostkowski's missed FG (a subject for another thread) was embarassingly unbecoming; I doubt that either Big Bill or Our Bill looked that idiotic after Wide Right in the SB, and unlike that soon-to-be-ex-HC jackoff in Miami, they would've been justifed to react that way.

I'm okay with the emotion Sporano displays.
Night game sunglasses though are a whole different issue (unless he has a medical reason to be wearing them).

Sparano suffered a serious eye injury as a teenager, making him very sensitive to bright lights:

Sparano, while working in a Connecticut restaurant as a teen, lost his sight for nearly a month after hot grease from a deep-fryer accidentally splashed in his eyes. To this day, his eyes water excessively and are extremely sensitive to light. That is why he often wears sunglasses when others might not. It is why lights are rarely on in his office. The look happens to fit rather nicely with South Beach chic, come to think of it. And makes for easy jokes. But the look also reminds that Sparano seeing at all might be what some would even consider a miracle.
