With captains Vince Wilfork & Jerod Mayo on IR, Devin McCourty & Rob Ninkovich have been named defensive captains

Even if it may be just interim captain status, just another step forward for the "scrub" we signed back in 2009.

Personally seeing Ninkovich being named a captain makes me very happy, the guy is a prototypical New England Patriots; he is smart, versatile, hardworking and unspoken.

McCourty is deserving as well of course!!

I read on ESPN blog that Chandler Jones said Rob Ninkovich tipped him off about Drew Brees possibly running a bootleg play on the 3rd down play. Love that guy, he's so clutch!

I had to think about this one and i don't think this is necessarily true, IMHO.

I think you need a performance better than baseline and produce on the field to show leadership and be a captain.

You gotta make some plays to be a captain.

I am very very happy 50 got the recognition from his team on this one. Have always been a big fan of him. I think he will continue to make the plays and prove to be a great captain for this team through his preparation all week and his production for the team on Sunday...
