Heres a subtle point that I think destroys the nfls and public outrage over deflate gate. BB said in his press conference that teams merely suggest to the ref what psi they prefer, but the refs ultimately set the psi of the balls to whatever they see fit between 12.5 and 13.5. We all know it is not illegal to submit an over or under inflated ball to the refs for inspection..that's what inspection is for they will simple fix that flaw in the ball before they approve it. It is also obvious that the majority of the media and public believe deflate gate is cheating and that the weather does not substantially affect psi in any real way. It is also clear that the league was probably not aware that weather could affect psi. Here is the point. If weather cannot affect psi and it is not illegal to submit non qualifying balls to the officials for approval then what in the hell is rule for. It would seem in the nfls fairy tale world the only reason a ball could ever be under or over inflated is because someone messed with the balls after the refs approved them. If this is such an egregious act then why is there only a 25000 dollar fine. If this speaks to the very integrity of the spirit of fairness then why does the nfl fine a player more for missing a press conference and wearing gold shoes than it does this offense. The leagues fine shows you how little they worry about the game balls psi. This is evidence that this is phony outrage orchestrated by the nfl only because it's the patriots who have been suspected of breaking this ridiculous rule.
