Wise is relentlessly pursuing his craft with a never-ending search to improve and become a better, all-around, more productive edge defender

I think it's completely within the reasonable realm of possibility that he could make a Flowers-like improvement and impact this year.

Between Wise, Flowers, Hightower, rivers and clayborne, our pass rush could be in great shape.

Wise had the most pressures of any rookie DE I believe. Great to hear him, Flowers & Rivers are working this hard together. They were getting a lot of work in last year after practice too.

Last year was last year. Too many fans get caught up in that. We have plenty of fire power to pressure the QB. It's all about what the players are being tasked with.

We're in better shape than a lot of folks think. We'll see how things shape out during the pre-season. Personally, I am not so worried about this year. Regardless, I just want the season to start. I am so Jonesing for Patriots football.

I don't know if it's entirely fair to project Flowers-level pass-rush production on him, that's not really going to be his main calling card. But If he can help the foursome of Flowers, Clayborn, Rivers & himself account for 30+ sacks, while being a stout strong-side DE, then that should be enough.

This is what I expected for Wise Jr.. On the other hand, where the hell is Derek Rivers?

I have not seen anybody talk about his progress.

Interesting point, because my impression was that Flowers is more well rounded whereas Wise is more of a pass rusher. Either way, I don't mean to compare their play styles, but rather general level of play.

Unless there's an injury (or 2), then I don't know if he even makes the 53. I'm more interested in seeing what Keionta Davis has to offer.

Lee seems fairly safe right now from where I'm looking. Maybe Langi over him, but we really don't have a lot of promising pass rushing depth and you probably want 5 of those guys on the roster to keep everyone fresh. Who makes it after Flowers, Clayborn, Wise, Rivers (even Rivers should be considered a bubble player)? Lee seems like as good an option as any.

I don't expect anything from Davis...undrafted rookies who miss their entire first season on an injury list seldom, if ever, pan out.

No I think we can discount Eric Moore, err I mean Lee.

We’re in big trouble if we end up relying on him again.

Hey man, Eric Moore was our best pass rusher in late 2010. That's a really good comparison though.

Only thing that sticks out is Belichick singling out Davis for being lucky that he was available.
So that tells me he has a outside chance to make some noise.
Would like to see him take some snaps in preseason.

I'm looking forward to see how Shelton helps the overall D-Line play. With his frame he should be able to draw a lot of double-teams and at least push the middle of the pocket. He doesn't have the a Big Vince (who is?), but he can be close.

Pats D front should be sturdier this season and the addition of Hightower off IR should make a big difference in the overall D.......

Let the games begin

2016 Alan Branch

He just needs to be 2016 Alan Branch. Anything else will be gravy.
