This is a really dumb post RW. Strange has never "sucked ass" when he has been healthy. Why do you think he would suddenly suck ass now? Perhaps if Drake Maye sucks ass they will send him packing too.
Do you think Strange had a good rookie year? Do you think he was having a solid 2nd year until he got hurt?

It's not like we are talking about Logan Mankins here who missed an entire year of football but rather a player who has not established himself as an consistent NFL starter who suffered a serious injury.

There is no question the jury is out on Strange. To lock him in as the starting LG and be confident he'll do well is pretty damn optimistic.

We are 100% going defense in round 4.
I would go IDL or Edge (or LB, if they like Bassa a lot). I think there are quality players left at each of those positions. Especially at IDL and Edge. I won't re-mention all the players available at that spot. But I would not be surprised by another trade down though I will say "****in' Belichick" if they do trade down, again

I know a lot of people on here don't like Deone Walker but I am a fan since his junior season. I don't know what happened last year nor do I know, after a stellar junior season, what happed to Dan Marino in his senior season

Hoping someone the Pats like slides far enough into the 4th so we can make use or our extra 5th round picks and move up to get that player.

LFG!

Maybe, but to suggest Strange might suck ass is way too pessimistic. Strange was even OK at center last year when he was not 100%. Strange is a gamer. Maybe not Mankins level, but that doesn't mean he will suck ass.

I think they draft a kicker in round 7 if the top ones havent gone yet. While Fitzgerald and Borregales (?sp) top most boards, I want somebody who has kicked in cold weather like the Pittsburgh kicker Ben Sauls.
I don't know how much cold weather the N'east kickers play in as their seasons, barring a November rain here or there, are usually over by December.
Just looking at last year they played Virginia at home on Nov. 9 and then at BC on Nov. 30 (Clemson and L'ville were the other games). I don't know the weather conditions in those games but from the highlights it looked mild, no wind or rain. Sauls did hit a 57 yard FG vs. BC right before halftime so I'll give him that.

I feel like there is still a lot of depth on the DLine that will be available later. On the other hand, if we want to land a CB, it needs to be at #106. There won't be any decent ones left later on.

Here are some of my faves...

CB-Zah Frazier - UTSA - 6'3'' - 186 lbs - 4.36 forty
Small school guy with elite athleticism

CB-Dorien Strong - VaTech - 6'1" - 185 lbs

Here's a mock I just did. This mock site automatically fills in the first 3 rounds. Cool tool...

Run stuffing DT
coverage/cover 1 type FS
big bodied x receiver that can play a lot even if not #1
EDGE who can play in “base” defense downs but still bring some pass rush juice
LB with coverage skills who can also play the run

Those are probably the biggest needs they have this year. The draft seems to line up well for them to get a run stuffing NT. The rest seem like positions where they need higher end guys vs roster depth types and that’s kind of tough to expect on day 3, but maybe they find some gems.

Beyond that, CB and TE aren’t immediate needs but any player drafted today, if they develop well, has a clear path to being a starter by the end of their rookie deal. Draft board seems stronger at those spots than a lot of others, so probably wise to pick from those spots today at some point.
100%
Big run stuffing tackle

Things are so wide open now that I don't think it is reasonable to predict specific players, but i think we can safely predict positions of interest for the Patriots on Day 3: Edge, OL (still need depth), DT (depth), and Safety (ahem)....but who knows. I actually trust Wolf and Vrabels after yesterday and expect it will be the BPA within reason.

I hope they don't just take a "blocking TE". That's definitely the skillset they need most in the current TE room, but Hooper is on a 1 year deal and Henry is on a 2 year deal and I wouldn't be on either lasting past that. This is a strong TE class by most accounts. It'd be great if they could find a well rounded TE to groom for the long term over a stop gap blocking TE. Just use an extra OT for that.

I think this TE class was a little overrated--I'm not sure there's a "well-rounded TE to groom" left on the board. You mostly have to pick your poison, flex receivers like Gunnar Helm, Thomas Fidone and Oronde Gadsden, or old-school blockers like Jackson Hawes, Mitchell Evans and CJ Dippre.

The calls for Jack Sawyer are completely understandable and he may very well be the pick but if you thought Will Campbell was a T-rex, Jack Sawyer has arms so short even Campbell could block him at 31 3/4". That's not to say he's not excellent, just worth bearing in mind.

Some of the same people who knocked Campbell now want Marcus Mbow, whose arms are 32”.

Wilson also can play G

One thing most fans don’t take into account, primarily because there isn’t much information on them, is what the following year draft is going to be weak or strong on. We did know last year that this was going to be a bad year for QB’s, making the Maye pick even more important, but that’s because it was quarterbacks. The franchises track players from the time they enter college, and most already have a sense as to what the next years draft could bring for them. So it could be that the Patriots knew they couldn’t fix everything this year, and that next years draft could help them address those areas better than this year.

He had an ok rookie year and was having a good second year before getting hurt, while playing hurt. The knee was troubling him all season before it went.
He played well when he got back last year.

Strange is our best LG by far. Sow? Robinson? Schweizer?

Hopefully Sow is almost as good.

There was a good two rounds for TE's.

Like Strange, Sow also had decent game grades in 2023. It isn't wise to bank on him either.
