Patriots Player Departure Davon Godchaux Traded For 2026 7th To New Orleans

With a historically deep defensive tackle class in the draft, this just makes sense.

Could we assume that a new D-Lineman or two are to be announced soon?
Word on the street is the Pats are making a big run at Milton Williams.

It’s telling that a key cog / starter for this team was traded away for a 7th NEXT year… not saying I hate the move, but I am saying I hate the current roster.

Does trading him instead of cutting him save anymore on the cap? Seems a little spiteful not to just cut him and set him free over a 7th rounder 2 years from now.
By trading him, New Orleans picks up the rest of this guaranteed contract so we save the cap hit.

IF we hit in this FA and the Draft we are a lot closer than you think. It's us and the Bills...NY and Miami are now in Cap hell for a while.
How's the Bills cap situation after Allen's massive new contract?

DG was ineffective... hadn't had a sack since 2022... ineffective run stopper... time to move on from guys who didn't produce...

Beats me probably Ross or Ian can tell you: but that window is not staying open forever.

Meh

Would've thought we could've got a better pick, but the market is the market and, if he doesn't fit what we're going to do, best to get whatever for him
Were luck we even got a 7th for him.. team knows they will be able run on him..

Overthecap shows $900k more than that for 2025, they agree on 2026. I wonder what the disconnect is? Regardless, I’m happy they were able to get something for someone who was no longer a scheme fit, isn’t a star, who the team felt had a bad attitude last year, and where all other 31 teams knew the above.

Why haven’t they signed him yet? The Pats asleep at the wheel yet again.

Uncle Milty incoming?

A player where instead of helping the culture added to the problem.. this started under BB in 2023 his post game comments, ect. We need leaders.. Godchaux out, landry in. Surprised we even got a 7th for him..
