Well they did win a Super Bowl with "Guge" as the OL coach.

...and made it to the final moments of an AFCCG. Tough standards around these parts.

Wasn't 2015 just an injury hell season? Dave DeGuglielmo did some gimmicky stuff rotating OL around when it wasn't necessary, but mostly I think it was just too many dudes getting wiped out.

That said, Scar is an absolutely unique OL coach who deserves to go in the HOF, even though that probably won't ever happen.

There was the “absolutely cost us a Super Bowl” factor in the AFCCG at Denver. Think that’s still an NFL record for most QB hits taken in a game. DeGenius couldn’t figure out a way to prevent Miller from being in the backfield just 0.2 seconds after ball was snapped.

I feel like the Patriots shouldve recorded Dante throughtout his career, then playback the whole thing until the end of day once he retires

It's the only thing that could make a serviceable substitute
The Patriot organization is technically savvy and the development of artificial intelligence has been making great strides. Before he retires, everything Dante knows about offensive line coaching should be incorporated into an AI model.

Maybe that 2015 afcc @ denver was a blessing in disguise

2015 is when every O-lineman but Dave Andrews suffered some sort of injury and missed time. Vollmer was playing hurt against Denver.

Yes he is. That includes YOU.

Dante can't coach forever... and the first crack at replacing him was a disaster with 'Guge'... I hope he has a protege or there is some plan in place for when Dante hangs it up.

We won a super bowl with guge

When/how did he rotate guys when it wasn’t necessary? Can you explain what you mean?

And he made big strides with the Colts OL

I think he wasnt the biggest culprit of it all. It was Stork
What was stork?

What was stork?
To me all critiscim is fueled by that AFCCG against the Broncos defeat, where Von Miller almost singe-handedly destroyed us.

If wasnt for Storks bobbling head, that game (and the future) would be different

This comes up every few months. Storks head bob is the trigger of the snap count. The fact that the snap count trigger by the head bob wasn’t varied was the issue.
Blaming stork is like saying if your Cadence is down, set, hut, hut, hut and you call everything on 1 and the defense figures that out the whole thing is because you said set.

Colts had 11 penalties against KC in the playoffs, it was no surprise to the media in Kansas why Gug's got fired.

He got fired here because the offensive line wasn't prepared to use the silent snap count in Denver.

Gug's Resume:

Miami Dolphins (2009–2011)
Offensive line coach

New York Jets (2012)
Offensive line coach

New England Patriots (2014–2015)
Offensive line coach

San Diego Chargers (2016)
Assistant offensive line coach

Miami Dolphins (2017)
Offensive line coach

Indianapolis Colts (2018)
Offensive line coach

Whereas Scar can work for the Patriots for 35 years, through numerous regime changes...

Just a reminder since Thuney is about to be paid.
Still underrated in NE. Appreciate the God. Also hes getting his OL'm paid big time. Still the best by a mile.

Coaching is something NE Pats fans still don't appreciate enough. For all the talk about "not enough talent" we've heard over the years. NE has been above the cut & beyond the next team when it comes to coaching.

Gude just hired today by Dolphins HC Brian Flores to be their O-Line coach. Flores fired Pat Flaherty who he hired in February.

True, and we stood a great chance of making the Super Bowl if it wasn’t for our OL. Rest of the team stepped up to even get us to the AFCCG

I realize he is the Oline coach but do you really think he was the only one responsible for that? Josh and Bill had input as well, I am sure before and during the game. Not to mention the player(s) tasked with preventing it from happening.

He never coached another game with the team. The Patriots almost never fire coaches. I think the question is answered by that event. He was certainly responsible enough for that total debacle.

Fair enough, but I think it was a bit of a perfect storm, probably a loss of confidence in him by Josh and Bill, Scar open to returning and his contract being up. Not sure they can him/not renew his contract if Scar stayed retired. Just my .02

Miller got away with being offsides quite a bit in that game. Not sure what the Pats could have done about that.
