Assuming we're picking back end of the first and Cole is off the board, Scott/Stone/McClain/McDonald would be my choice.

Interestingly no KVA and Pierre is high.

5 safeties in the top 36.

Let me quote Michael Stipe (REM) from the song, Ignoreland about the '27 Draft, "Relax, Defense. Defense Defense Defense."

Stone and Scott stand out. I can't imagine either will actually be available, but either would g8ve Chris Cole a run at the top of my board.

I love McClain and McDonald, but IDL > S for me. would trade up to get KVA in round 2 if the board fell that way.

I do really like the options in the first as things stand. I'd like Clev Lubin to fall to the end of the 2nd.

Brugler's top 35 pretty solid. My top 40 variation would look something VERY roughly like this (player grade, not predicted draft order):

1. Jeremiah Smith, WR, Ohio St.
2. Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame
3. Dylan Stewart, EDGE, S. Carolina
4. Dante Moore, QB, Oregon
5. Colin Simmons, EDGE, Texas
6. Cam Coleman, WR, Texas
7. Arch Manning, QB, Texas
8. Jordan Seaton, OT, LSU
9. Trevor Goosby, OT, Texas
10. David Stone, IDL, Oklahoma
11. Justin Scott, IDL, Miami
12. Chris Cole, LB, Georgia
13. Will Echoles, IDL, Mississippi St.
14. Ellis Robinson IV, CB, Georgia
15. Jamari Johnson, TE, Oregon
16. Charlie Becker, WR, Indiana
17. A'Mauri Washington, IDL, Oregon
18. CJ Carr, QB, Notre Dame
19. Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma St.
20. Sammy Brown, LB, Clemson
21. Trey'Dez Green, TE, LSU
22. Ashton Hampton, CB, Clemson
23. Jelani McDonald, S, Texas
24. Bruntae Johnson, S, Notre Dame
25. KJ Bolden, S, Georgia
26. Jacarrius Peak, OL, S. Carolina
27. Kyngstonn Viliamu-asa, LB, Notre Dame
28. Yhonzae Pierre, EDGE, Alabama
29. Kade Pieper, IOL, Iowa
30. Greg Johnson, IOL, Minnesota
31. Nick Marsh, WR, Indiana
32. Kelley Jones, CB, Mississippi St.
33. Darian Mensah, QB, Miami
34. Jaden Baugh, RB, Florida
35. Kewan Lacy, RB, Ole Miss
36. Jaylen McClain, S, Ohio St.
37. Drake Lindsey, QB, Minnesota
38. Ahmed Moten, IDL, Miami
39. Zabien Brown, CB, Alabama
40. Ahmad Harvey, RB, Missouri

A few thoughts:

1. I am not as high on Trevor Lauck as Brugler. He's probably in my 41-64 group right along with PJ Williams and Niki Prongos. Austin Siereveld, Carter Smith and Cayden Green also in that range right now. Waiting to see a Freeling/Iheanachor/Miller kind of emergence.

2. Not sold on Trinidad Chambliss or LaNorris Sellers at the next level. ai like the pro potential of Mensah and Lindsey.

3. Not sold on the base ends yet. Need to re-evaluate Will Heldt.

4. EDGE still a wild card. Love Boubacar Traore and Clev Lubin, but not this high this early. I've been on the Yhonzae Pierre bandwagon longer than anyone, but top 10 a bit rich for me right now.

5. Jaden Baugh, Kewan Lacy and Ahmad Harvey all really good, but I don't value RB as much as Brugler.

6. Jelani McDonald S1 for me, but you can pick and choose between the top 3, and Jaylen McClain could join them. I have 3rd round grades on Zach Lutmer, Ty Benefield and Koi Perich right now, but all have potential to move up.

7. My top 40 is pretty balanced: 20 offense (6 QB, 3 RB, 4 WR, 2 TE, 5 OL) and 20 defense (5 IDL, 3 EDGE, 3 LB, 4 S, 5 CB).

8. Hard for me to imagine only 5 OL, 4 WR and 3 EDGE in top 40. There will be movement.

Last year there were 10 OL, 7 WR and 7 EDGE (not including Arvell Reese) taken in the top 40 picks.

David Stone seems too low. I would take him, if he's the BPA, if he's there for the Pats.

Edit: deleted because I didn't read the rest of the thread, only that I'm not Athletic subscriber.

I like Anthony Smith. He's a problem. A very BIG one at that. Long arms. Not sure he'll time well but he can ball.

My concern with him is that I think he's more of a 4i/5tech that would fit the Dre'mont Jones role. Personally I want more of a speed rusher. Can't fault Smith's production though. Certainly one to watch this season.
