Curran:Patriots ugly win vs. Jets doesn't ease concerns moving forward

Seeing that Van Noy and McLellin played decent and Sheard seemingly took his medicine well actually did ease some of my concerns.

I was already aware that NFL players play with injuries and some are older than they used to be.

Actually surprised to see Edelman with 64 catches already and happy to have Hogan and Mitchell with little used Amendola in reserve.

In a salary cap, injury filled NFL, you have to play with who you've got and it's another season where they've got a shot if they gel. can't ask for more than that. Plus adding Dion to the best running game they've had in a while.

Of course, if Curran turned in a column like that every day, he'd be fired. He has to be concerned about something.

When have there not been concerns, 2007?

Also, thought he's sucked this year, Fitz has looked real good at times in the past. Apparently, someone suggested he not throw it to the other team 5-6 times a game, and he really had an excellent game. Defense only needs to put it together for a handful of games when it counts. We've been there before with worse IMO.

Inconsistency is his issue, not talent. We just happened to get one of his good days
Well, consistency certainly isn't a problem when he plays N.England, as he's posted 7 TDs vs. 0 INTs and has been averaging almost 300 yds per game in the last 3 meetings.

We didn't just happen to get one of his good games on Sunday. We've been getting his good games for a little while now.

Motivation and familiarity are powerful tools. He seems like the kind of player that will occasionally, against the right opponent, take the bait of his football manhood being questioned and elevate his cerebral play especially.

Likewise he's been in the AFC East the majority of his career and even when he wasn't, still played the Pats. We talk about Brady being able to shred LeBeau defenses in Pitt - that's a similar corollary - he was very well aware of both scheme and individual tendencies and exploited them. Fitz is a lot of things including not that great of a consistent QB, but he's not a blithering moron either.
