Curran:Brady's receivers well covered

Reiss answered it in his mailbag once .Said the offense he played in college was far to simple for him and its a red shirt yr for him to learn and run with the offense. I think we all are excited about a player we havent seen just like teams with QB issues call for the backup. But trust me , if he was as good as woodhead bb would play him .

Price clearly isnt impressing in practices. He hasnt even been active

That's pretty much my point. He hasn't even been able to make it onto the active roster yet.

If Branch can't get more separation than he's getting, it may be time to just toss Mr. Price into the pool and see if he can tread water.

From what I have heard Price has had trouble with grasping the playbook and thats the reason why he hasnt been active. But, I do agree that the injury is really hurting Branch and they could use another WR

How open do they have to be? Teams play us man coverage partly because Brady picks zones apart but also because Brady rarely throws it to a receiver unless he is wide open. This is the NFL, no one is going to be wide open all the time unless you're a young Randy Moss, or Andre Johnson, or one of the five elite WRs. Sometimes Brady has to take chances down field and throw the ball where his receivers can make a play on the ball.

This is not just an observation on this game but overall since Randy left. I've seen Tate streak down the field a step ahead of his defender (granted not wide open) but Brady should be throwing those for TDs.

Let them sign a track star, for all I care. They need someone to loosen things up. This team may get less separation from its receivers than any other team in the league besides the Chiefs. What's more, other than Moss and Welker, that was the same problem last year.

You must not watch any games other than Patriots games, and you must not watch the Patriots games when the opponents are on offense.

LOL. This response is more apt for you.

Without a guy like Moss to keep the defense honest, these guys are going to have more pressure put on them to beat coverage. They will experience growing pains, and thats fine, we are only at the halfway mark.

This team did it with Hall Of Famers like Troy Brown, David Patten, Deion Branch, David Givens....this WR corps has much more talent, just not all the experience. They'll get there. In the meantime, let's stop worrying about the WR's and worry about a problem that really needs to get fixed....the lack of a damn running game. BJGE, dont get me wrong, I like the guy, and am glad he made the team, but not as a full-time starter.

Ahhhh, the good ol' days of Smith, and Dillon. :bricks:

Well, your post was just ridiculous. Watch the games. Hell, watch this game on NBC for a current example. You'll see holes for the running game, too.

They do need someone to extend defenses and open up the middle for Welker. Tate has been a bit of a disappointment in that category.

How often do you see guys running around wide open when other teams are playing man coverage? Maybe if it's a blown coverage, yeah. Playing against zone defenses you see guys wide open when they find holes in zones.

Maybe you're confusing NFL games for college games. The games on Saturdays are college games.

I see it all the time, and I stopped watching college games more than 5 years ago. Packers receivers aren't having much trouble getting open tonight, just for one, very current, example, and the coverage hasn't made much difference.

It also helps when you draft the best wide receiver in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft.

Greg Jennings, WR for the Green Bay Packers at NFL.com

Well, that's my point. The Problem is the personnel at wide receiver, as opposed to the problem being the QB or the O.C., which is where a lot of people seem to be looking. It's as if last year never happened with these people.

We know that the problem was with the receivers, and we know that BB saw that himself, because he overhauled the group. Unfortunately, his attempts to fix the problem have failed to this point, and the decision to trade Moss has made things even worse.

My point is that receivers don't have to be wide open for passes to be completed. Does it help to have someone like Greg Jennings who is almost impossible to cover 1 on 1? Absolutely. But if you take a look at some of the completions made against McCourty today as an example. It's not like McCourty wasn't on his guy, it's just that the ball was placed where the receiver could make a play. It's like all the completions thrown against Wilhite or Guyton. Those guys are always on their receivers but just can't make plays on the ball or just a step behind.

Brady's balls this year just hasn't had the timing or touch. And recently, he's just not taking any chances past 15 yards unless his guys are wide open.

Actually, the New England Patriots have not selected a truly productive wide receiver from the college ranks via the NFL Draft (as opposed to trades) since 2002 (Deion Branch and David Givens).

This is simply not true. Brady hasn't been perfect, and he missed some easy connections in the Jets game, but you are one of the many here who are demanding perfection when it's not possible.

Hernandez and Woodhead were wide open quite a bit today, and today was the probably the worst game the wide receivers have had all year. Brady simply didn't play well today, and BOB has been a disgrace all year long. Check, his entire career has been a disgrace.
