Curran Believes Jones is 'Making an Enemy' Out of Belichick

Curran is now Gladys Kravitz. LOL

The demonstrative behavior by Mac on the field is something that has to get under Bill's skin even if it isn't directed towards him. We all know Patricia is doing a poor job but showing him up on a nationally televised game is basically insubordination. It isn't even just the coaching staff. Mac had his palms up the other day when Hunter Henry dropped that pass. I feel like some of the things Mac is doing need to be earned and he is far from any position to do what he's doing. This offseason could get interesting quickly.

I am sure Belichick doesn't like Jones' attitude. He is the same guy who has benched players for far less.

The thing is I am thinking Jones may want to try to force Belichick to trade him. His end goal could be to make Belichick enough of an enemy to trade him to another team that might put him in a position to be successful.

I am not excusing his actions, but if I was a young player and felt that the team I was playing for was putting me in a position to fail and messing with my career, I would want to shoot my way out of town.

I still think if things become a complete disaster the last three weeks of the season, Belichick might not be here next year. Right now, if he wasn't a six time Super Bowl winner with multiple other Super Bowl and AFCCG appearances (and wins in the AFCCGs), he would already be fired. People automatically assume that Kraft would never part ways with Belichick after this season, but I am not so sure about that. Before the season, Kraft seemed pretty frustrated with the direction of the team. He has to be irate now. He won't outright fire him, but there could be a "mutual" parting of the ways.

Wonder if he tries to force his way to Daboll over in NY.

Only if Belichick truly believes everything is fine and no changes need to be made. I think that would escalate things pretty quickly, but I can't honestly see him not realizing a problem exists (he's sort of already done that), so I doubt it happens.

Based on Kraft's comments at the owner's meeting back in March, Kraft probably already voiced his concerns to Belichick about putting Patricia in charge of the play calling, developing Mac Jones, and designing the offense. Therefore, I assume Belichick made assurances that everything would work out and there wouldn't be problems. It may be too late for Belichick now say that Kraft was right and he was wrong and he should get a mulligan.

And the question is now, under the current situation, would anyone of any competence want the OC job under Belichick. Even if Belichick survives this year, he most certainly will be on the hotseat next year. And now Mac Jones is damaged goods and any OC has to wonder if he can salvaged. What OC that is looking to be a head coach in the next few years wants to walk into this situation? There are going to be a lot of teams going after Bill O'Brien. Would he really want to come here over other situations?

Kraft is going to be 82 next season. He has seen everything that happened this year. He has seen Belichick and Patricia ruin his first round pick from last year and what he thought was going to be his franchise QB beyond Belichick's tenure, gotten little to nothing this year out of three of his most expensive free agent pick ups from 2021, and seen the top two picks from this years' draft struggle potentially because they are not being coached up. Is he willing to give Belichick another season to try to fix all his mistakes from this year?

I have been accused of being a Belichick homer during the whole Brady/Belichick thing. So I am no Belichick hater. Still think he is the greatest coach of all time and I give him more credit for early dynasty wins than any one player including Brady. But I am really beginning to question if he has lost it or just doesn't care enough anymore. I think Kraft may be asking the same questions.

Or you could hunker down and try and work harder to get something out of it. The QB in 2006 did it when branch was traded away and had fare below avg weapons and he had far more value than the current one to push for a trade.
Regarding BB firing , purely from a record basis , last 3 yrs arent the worst. any new coach willl take some more rebuilding yrs or trade away picks to win now because new coaches have a small window to win or get fired. So lets been careful what we wish for.

I think Mac needs to show some maturity and keep his emotions in check. Sure the coaching hasn't been good, but his play on the field this season has been average at best. He had a terrible game against the Raiders. I think how you act when faced with adversity goes a long way when you are the leader of the offense. If I am a GM/Coach that might be interested in bringing Mac to my team, I would question how he would act when times are tough.

Curran, "I think that when you see players acting the way Mac did down on first-and-goal and Bill hasn’t checked it, I think this is the week in which he checks it.”
If Curran is right, as a BB check, I expect to see Zappe at QB after an on field emotional meltdown by Jones. given that Cincy is a good team, a meltdown is in the cards.

If you put zappe in after this performance in the raiders game the damaged caused by that will end his Carreer in NE

Yes, Jones would be better off is he channels his frustrations differently, and used some of that energy to focus on improving.
Ultimately, however, it is the job of the coaching staff to know the emotional maturity of their 24 year old 2nd year QB and construct a culture that will get the best out of him, and not let this happen. I'm more and more of the mind that these three guys aren't up to that task.

Jones isn't complaining about the talent level on offense. 2006 Brady, at 30 and with three SB wins with that offensive scheme and play calling, is not an apples to apples comparison. From 24 to 30 in QB years is measure in dog years, especially with staggering winning and playoff success vs. not.
