Cromartie: The Jets will definitely make the playoffs this year

Here is a novel idea, he should (Please be quiet - edited) and say nothing.

There are different approaches to take in this league. Belichick's isn't the only one. The Jets are all about confidence. When asked a question like this - and he was asked he didn't buy TV ad space to make a declaration - of course they are going to say they think they are going to make the playoffs.

As they should. They should think they are going to win every game otherwise they've already lost. Brady has been quoted before saying that he thinks they'll go 16-0 every year.

This board just has a hard-on for the Jets and as much as I hate them you guys take it to the extreme to the point that it clouds your ability to judge even the most benign of comments.

Seattle made it in at 7-9 not too long ago. I guess it's possible.
Seattle made it in at 7-9 by winning the division. So NE can make it very difficult for the Jets to make the playoffs by taking care of business.

This includes no pardoning the turkeys on Thanksgiving.

Why is that the 'smart thing'?

Nobody in the NFL, at all, is going to be up in arms about this. The Seahawks aren't going to say the Jets are looking past them.

It is the smart thing because you don't turn it into a big media story on a team that is a traveling media circus. Everything the Jets players say are overanalyzed, ridiculed, and dissected.

Basically guaranteeing that the 3-5 Jets will make the playoffs just adds more of a media circus for a team that desperately needs to get off the back page of the tabloids. If the Jets lose to the Seahawks this Sunday, it will just add more fuel to the media's attack fire.

The best thing to do is avoid questions like these and don't give the media anything. In most towns it might be a throw away line, but in NY it is now a big story especially with the Jets.

The best I see is 2-6.
The only possible home win is SD.
They might be a little better than Jax, but thats a big question mark, and are worse than every other team they face on the road.
6-10 will take a miracle.

I think the Jets beat the Jags, Bills and Titans, realistically. Maybe the Cardinals - they've regressed behind that offensive line. 3-5 is most probable. 6-10 probably gets Rex and Tannenbaum fired.

We're likely to see the Jets "playing to save the coach's job" in a few weeks and then it will be very interesting to see if the players respond. Even so, the talent is not there. Tannenbaum should go no matter what.

The offseason debate about who comes in to replace Ryan should be fun.

The only time the Jets talked tough this year was right before the Dolphins' games this year. In the first game, they only won because the Dolphins missed two relatively easy field goals and Reggie Bush went out by half time. The second time, they got blown out by the Fins.

Besides, the Jets' confidence thing is something that hasn't worked since November of last year. The Jets are all about stupidity, not confidence. Faux guarantees and bravado is not confidence, it is insecurities.

How stupid is this team. To always put a target on their back :bricks:

Yeah he's right,

Their gonna make the playoffs, all 53 of them in the stands watching the Pat's play for the AFC Championship.:rocker: Rex is gone next year and the Jet's will go back to being the Jet's again...

Whether Rexxy is there or not they are STILL the Rats, right now.

Again just to clear up some misconceptions, Cromartie was asked by the interviewer if the Jets will make the playoffs and he said the Jets will make the playoffs. He did not just come out and guarantee the Jets are going to do it like it's being suggested. Actually the word 'guarantee' was never used either, he answered the question by saying the Jets will make the playoffs, big difference between the two.

I was watching NFLN while this was going on and it didn't come off as anything but a confident response by someone who intends to remain competitive the rest of the season.

I believe that Ryan and Woody have a very good relationship and I would be shocked if Rex ever gets fired by Johnson unless the team suddenly goes 0-16 in 2013.

If anything, the only way I see Rex leaving the Jets is by simply resigning,it's his job for the foreseeable future as long as he wants it

Rex ain't going anywhere for a long time.

The problem with the Jets are that they play better to the media than they do on the field.

How many teams players or coaches year after year claim their team is heading to the postseason or ever more daring,to suggest they are going to play in the Super Bowl?.....the answer is 99% of the time only ONE OUT OF 32 TEAMS.

There was a Carolina Panthers player who took a full page out in a Carolina newspaper this past offseason telling his fans that they should be ready to be fans of Super Bowl champs this year.....how is that working out for them?

Shut up off the field and play the game on the field one game at a time is more common than just NE....and it's the right way for any team

I predict that Cromartie will be wrong in his prediction.

It's also possible that Mark Sanchez is our starting QB next season,
We need more Mexicans on the team to attract Hispanic women to the games. Who's that blonde that works for TV Azteca who hung out at Jets games to interview Sanchez? Holy crapoli. I can only imagine what went through Joe's mind. Forget Suzie in a big hurry.

Cro: Jets will 'definitely' make playoffs -
If anybody can abuse the "definitely" word it's the Jets. It's like clockwork.

Errr, Cro, don't look now but the Fins have a better defense, offense, QB, HC and a two game lead with only eight to go.

It's a rock fight for third between the Bills and some team named the Jets.
