Could BB be thinking 1st Round QB in 2011?

Which QB is that? Sam Bradford? Jimmy Claussen? Jevan Snead? Or are you referring to Juniors who might come out?

I have no idea, I dont follow college football all that much. All I know is if there is a stud QB available when we pick we will get an insane return by some team that will fall in love with him.

I don't follow college football but isn't Tebow one of those players whose (pre wildcat) value is/was debatable at the QB position???

Yes. It was very debatable and there were many who thought he'd be better as an TE/H-Back or Wide Receiver because he has issues with reads, accuracy, and his mechanics. That being said, Tebow decided to NOT enter the draft this year (many thought he would) and he spent the entire off-season working on his mechanics, his reads and his accuracy on medium routes. Supposedly, he also asked Meyer to implement more of a pro-style offense than the normal spread offense that they've run in the past.

One of the GOOD things about Tebow is his intangibles. He's a very vocal leader and he holds himself accountable. He's also got a ton of determination.

As for how he'd fit into the Pats offense, I'm not sure he would since he's shorter (6'2.5") than what the Pats look for in the QBs (6'4-6'6).

Tebow had a very good year last year (though with a lot of caveats). If he comes out this year and shows that he's improved his mechanics, his reads, and his foot work to the level they need to be at, then I could easily see teams like Seattle, Chicago, Denver, Minnesota, Buffalo, Houston, and possibly St. Louis all vying to draft him..

Ok.. I wasn't sure. It sounded like you had someone in mind.

In two years probably none of the current 5 running backs will be a Patriot. Taylor, Morris, and Faulk will likely be retired. Maroney likely will not be re-signed unless he does something special soon. Law Firm has the best chance.

I realize that running backs are often not good 1st round value, unless someone who is a freshman now has Adrian Peterson-type talent, but in two years I see RB as guaranteed far higher priority need to fill than QB.

Brady will retire a Patriot and someday have a send-off like Tedy, with BB shedding some tears.

Unbelievable.

I mean, to me the reason for this trade is so obvious. But somehow people are equating this to the Patriots wanting to draft a QB to replace arguably the greatest QB to ever play the position while he will have atleast 8 good seasons left in him???

They traded Seymour because they knew the two sides would never come to an agreement next season, and he would have left and the Pats would have gotten nothing.

Now, the Pats get killer value for a player they had only one season left with and save a considerable amount of cap space to possibly extend a player like Wilfork.

It will definately hurt this year. Seymour has been a great player. But ever since he signed his contract, he has not played as well as he had prior. Still good player, but Warren has been the better player since Seymour signed the big contract. Hell we have all been saying that for the past three years!

In fact, the thing that pisses me off the most about the trade is that Seymour probably would have busted his ass this year because it was a contract year.

Brady is here till he retires.

BB sacrifices this year for future draft picks
Bad mistake

This is the year
not 2011

Bad mistake

i think they should draft jacory harris from miami. he is a good pocket passer and is very athletic. they way it is going for him he could be a top 10 pick in 2011.he also has good intagebles he is callm after td and dosent show off

That's just ridiculous. Brady was a six. Cassell was 7. Their recent experiment with a 3 failed so why bother burning a 1.

Besides BB should only be able to draft for Defense in the first two-three rounds and get the offensive guys in FA. That has been proven.

Pure speculation, but I think Kraft (the old man) will have a big say in what happens with Brady long term. He will be involved in the decision in some manner. It won't be all BB on that one. We know Kraft signed off on the Bledsoe trade. If he was involved in that, logic says he'd be involved with whatever happens with Brady who is infinitely more distinguished as a player and as a face of the franchise.

That said, I fully expect Brady to finish his career in NE. The only real threat in my mind is him getting a nice offer from the 49ers and he decides to finish his career with the team he grew up rooting for. But that's a long shot. Giselle seems to dig the east coast.

Iam guessing Tom brady will get 6 years 90 million with 40 million gauranteed. The 1st in 2011 is to grab the next randy moss.

I see that as an excellent possibility. Julio Jones and AJ Green are the most likely possibilities at this time.

With all due respect to Bill, he should draft linemen (either O or D) in round 1 and use the free agency market for his skill players - or make low risk gambles on day 2. A DB would be OK to play across of Butler for the next 5 years. Wilhite as a dime package guy long term most likely - although to be fair to him - he has approximately 31 more games to prove me wrong.

Why do people keep forgetting that BB never drafts to need, he always drafts to the best pick available?

Reiss reports on speculation that Brady will be signed through 2015-16

ummm...yea? In 2016, I like Peter Dering out of Concord Carlisle HS who looks real good at RT on the JV team right now.

Keep your eye on this guy Reiss... he knows a lot and might even report that very few QBs have been anywhere near the top of their game at age 39, and a great many players never see the final years of their contract too.

I tend to think Belichick already knows this too and won't be sitting back waiting until 2016 to find his next franchise QB.

I agree. This kid looks GREAT! He loves to throw the deep ball and his accuracy and touch are amazing. It's always difficult to project college players at the next level but I can't say enough about how good Harris looks. He's a winner too. He was 30-0 in his High School career and he has Miami looking like a legitimate title contender this year as well, which is a year earlier than anyone expected. The Hurricanes are back.

Glad you're amused. However, if you don't think that the Pats scouts are looking at 2011 prospects, you're missing something. And with Randy Moss one of the most important players on the team, with a contract expiring after 2010 at which point he will be 34, and a possible high 1st round pick from Oakland, considering an elite WR prospect is not out of the question.

Here are all the WRs that have played for Belichick in reverse chronological order that I can think of in the next 45 seconds.

Galloway
Moss
Welker
C.Jackson
Gaffney
Gabriel
Caldwell
B. Johnson
Branch
Givens
Patten
Brown (not his pick - exclude)
Glenn (not his pick - exclude)

How many were drafted in the first round? 0

How many did Belichick TRADED AWAY to get a 1st round pick: 1

How many were drafted in round 2 and sucked: 2

How many were drafted in round 1 or 2 and were good: 0

How many were low round value picks that developed over many years in the system? 4

How many were free agent CHEAP pickups: 3

How many were free agent semi-expensive (i.e. gave picks) pickups: 2

So what data do you use to think BB will drop 30M on a rookie wide receiver?

will i dont think the pats pick in 2011 will be that high of a pick lets hope its the 32th pick

and the pick from oakland i dont see being a top 10 pick
oakland plays in the AFC west they just may be a 11 win playoff team in 2 years

but even with that said is dose not have to be the first pick in the draft to pick a good QB or even a first round pick

we all know brady was not a first round pick

some peopel where talking about brady not signing back or being traded will lets hope not

cause that would be the end of the pats run

if brady go's moss will not stay here

and with out brady and moss this team will not win 11 games with just any QB

the O line is not great and half the line is FA after this year any ways

they dont have a #1 RB

and the D is not that good to carey the team

if brady go's so dose the pats as we know them they need at lest 3 more years with brady to fix this team befor they can think about life aftter brady
