Now that Washington has clinched the NFC (L)East, the 2015 Giants are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. It ends one of the weirdest coincidential/baffling patterns in sports.

In 2007, the Giants lost at home 38-35 to the 15-0 Patriots, the league's last undefeated team, then went on to win the Super Bowl as an unlikely wild card, beating two powerhouse teams on the way before beating the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl.

Four years later, in 2011, the Giants lost at home 38-35 to the 11-0 Green Bay Packers, the league's last undefeated team, then went on to win the Super Bowl as one of the most unlikely winners in league history, having been outscored during the regular season. The Giants knocked off the Packers on the road on their way to the title before again beating the Patriots.

Four years later, in 2015, the Giants lost at home 38-35 to the 13-0 Panthers, the league's last undefeated team. Meanwhile, the Patriots are the AFC favorite.

I don't how the Giants did it or what strange forces were working in the universe, but I sure was glad Washington won tonight!

sorry...I'll continue to stick pins in my Goodell wax doll and I'm sure....

Everything's falling into place..

Just take care of business in NY and things are looking good, it will be tough with so many guys sitting but I still think they can do it. Then hyperbaric chamber parties the next 2 weeks.

I hadnt realized that Denver is really playing for the division monday, if they lose KC wins the tiebreaker.

As far as I'm concerned, that storyline died when we lost a game.

So is mcdaniels the next Giants coach as rumors have it?

Good organization, but rather have a better QB than Eli

In both Giants SB years, they had started so badly that the buzz during those seasons was whether Coughlin could save his job.

They had a lot of injuries and they lack depth. Plus they gave away at least three games.

I don't think they have a front office scouring the waiver database in the middle of the night in week 15 like it's a life or death mission to find some hidden gem who might be the 53rd guy on the roster.

He's probably done.

New Jersey, playing the Jets not the Bills

No offense, but people on this board need to get over the Giants.

They are a mediocre team and even if they somehow got into the playoffs, they would have lost in the first round. It isn't 2007 or 2011 anymore. Eli Manning and Zak DeOssie are the only players left from either ot those teams.

Poor Giants fans, must've been getting their hopes up.

We lost 35-38 to the last undefeated team. Check!

We suck again but are able to rise to levels of mediocrity sufficient to win a few games. Check!

We are going to win our garbage division because the rest of the teams in it suck worse than us this year. Oh...
