Not to steal the thunder from the Chip Kelly thread, but I was wondering if people would be open to Coughlin being one of our assistant's next year if he were interested.

Is it bad karma to hire the coach that beat us twice in the Super Bowl? Maybe he is done with the league, but I think it'd be great to have him and the Hoodie on the same sideline.

I mean sure, why not.

But why would he accept an assistant position when he could easily find a Head Coaching gig in a league where 1/3 of the teams have or will have a vacancy?

Doesn't seem like he'd be willing to step down and coach under Belichick, especially after proving twice that he's a Super Bowl winning coach.

I wouldn't be surprised if he came back to Jacksonville and took a front office position of some kind. He still owns a house down here and lives here in the offseason.

Josh McDaniels is not very popular today.

Understandable. Josh's play calling had been atrocious the last few games

Clearly he won't run the FO or HC but havin Tom Coughlin here would be nothing but positive here.

I do think hes done though.

This makes sense if he doesn't simply retire. I'll never understand the posters here who somehow get it in their heads that recent head coaches would want to come to Foxboro and work under BB. These are men used to being king of their own domains. The No. 1 quality of an assistant is loyalty to the head coach, meaning UNDERLING. And who's to say BB would even want someone of that stature on his staff vs. a bright young mind he can mold to fit his program? Not to mention the fact that assistants work hard and put in long hours.

I remember in Patriot Reign (I think) that Belichick values dissenting opinions, and he doesn't seem to have one specific scheme really, just a lot of versatile players that morph into the scheme he goes with for the time. Your point still stands though, the Patriots film room isn't big enough for Belichick and Coughlin.

Chip Kelly,Bob cooter, Giants offensive coordinator I would take as ocs over Daboll.

I wouldn't be surprised that Coughlin is done with NFL football and decides to retire.

I can tell you right now they coughlin never would have played to "not get injured" on Sunday against Miami. It's not in his DNA.

Should get both Harbaughs, Coughlin, and Chip on the staff. #unstoppable
I THINK THEY SHUD GET VINS LOMBARDI LOL
