I kind of get this, but also don’t really understand the implications… wouldn’t the same thing be true in week 6 if we put him in then?
Bill is hoping he can catch Miami off guard two years in a row with Cam's 1950's QB sneak offense

I mean I think we’re perfectly capable of beating the dolphins with Cam
I think Miami is going to be good this year, not a cake walk like in prior years. I hear Tua is doing really well, they have a solid defense, and some good offensive weapons. 10-6 last year I believe.

AFC East is no longer the AFC Least.

Mac has been studying the Pats defensive plays.

I don't think this is unusual but for a rook it seems to be

And it really never was; the "other 3 teams" did reasonably well in out of division play over the years, in aggregate.
Now, once the Pats get things turned around, there will be 3 teams that can win on any given Sunday.

That seems remarkable mostly because is it unusual. Kind of a "duh" thing to do if you are a rookie and trying to have impact with very little opportunity (which most rookies have).

I think Miami will be good, but week 1 is kind of a weird one. The game is in Foxboro, which favors the Patriots, Tua is still unproven, and without Fuller/Hurns, you're asking Waddle to jump in right away and make an impact. If we have Gilmore back, I have a hard time seeing them consistently move the ball on offense. Of course, it's week 1, where games seem to be a coin flip most years, so I wouldn't rule out a win OR a loss.

I love hearing stuff like this about Mac. I do wonder though if this is more typical than we think of first round rookie QB's, we've just never had one in camp since the turn of the century. I mean, it's nice for Hoyer to give us a comp, but no one was fast tracking him to compete for the starting job, and even a higher pick like Jimmy G was probably an afterthought in camp because we still had Brady.

Still, I'll eat up anything that points to this kid's positive work ethic and character.

I expect the reconfigured Pats front 7 will be far more disruptive than the group that lined up against Tua late last year.

Our pass rush has the potential to be incredibly frightening.

I hope Belichick just cuts them loose, let em get after the QB. I wanna see run blitzes, I wanna see an aggressive defense, not a laid back defense.

Within reason. You go blitz heavy against Brady, you're toast.

Between BB, Mayo and Chris Griffin they'll do a good job of calling the plays.

Yeah, I didn’t mean to imply that Miami sucks.
I think we’re going to be good too. I think we’re fully capable of winning with cam against Miami. I think we’re capable of losing that game too

Perhaps, but there's something to be said for watching at least one regular-season game from the sideline before making your NFL debut... And I have no problem with that, as long as Cam isn't the reason why we're losing that particular game...

Our pass rush has the potential to be incredibly frightening.

In recent years, Wise was one of the primary weapons. Now, he'll be an afterthought, as in "The O Line had to account for the Pats' dominant pass rushers and that allowed Wise to sneak through and..."

Truth is Wise isn't that bad of a DE who can put a little pressure on the outside. Might be a situation where his playing time is cut into.
