Daaaaaaaaang not one article sided with the Patriots decision

Here's another one:

Wes Welker goes from cold Patriots to Broncos' warm welcome - NFL.com

From the same article:

this cold approach has served New England very well over the years. There's no arguing with a track record that includes 10 division titles, five AFC championships and three Lombardi Trophies in a dozen years. But there's an inherent downside to operating that way, too. Wednesday's events illustrated that.

and this ...

(The Ravens) said the focus was on building a roster that could win for the next five years, not just defend the championship. They've been true to their word. If you were to project a starting lineup for the Ravens today, the only players included who are out of their 20s would be fullback Vonta Leach (31 years old) and linebacker Terrell Suggs (30). After the frenzy of departures, I asked one Ravens official what's next. "The draft," he texted back. I was later assured that Baltimore isn't done. Some lower-profile free-agent additions are possible. Reed might come back, too. But this much is clear: Newsome and Co. have put a premium on financial flexibility and youth early in 2013.

So again: Patriots cold; Ravens wise. Kinda sounds to me like Ozzie has learned from the Pats.

The only voice worth listening to--Bedard--is in favor of the move and he is such a huge Welker fan that he somehow tried to pin the SB 46 drop on Brady.

Patriots botch Wes Welker situation

New England Patriots are the biggest losers
The Patriots foolishly gave Amendola a five-year, $31 million deal. Josh McDaniels had Amendola in St. Louis, and some around the league believe the offensive coordinator was a driving force here. Anyone remember when McDaniels ran Denver into the ground?

This is odd.

What is this, amateur hour?

Barnwell gives Pats props:

What this eventually boils down to is the innate fear of change that fans have with regard to their team's stars. Most people are loath to give up on something good until it's been proven that a once-productive player can no longer perform at the same level. That's understandable, but it's a terrible way to run a football team. Belichick knows that, and he's spent 13 years moving on from players at exactly the right time.

Welker move is about evolving the offense - Extra Points - Boston.com

Bedard talks about the on-field strategy behind the Welker/Amendola switch

Do not mistake the Patriots’ move simply as a one-for-one swap, Danny Amendola for Wes Welker. While they may be of similar size, they are completely different players. Amendola is a much more dynamic athlete, is taller, with longer arms and is better down the field. He’s terrific with the ball in his hands. While Welker can break man coverage in the slot better than anyone, Amendola is close to Welker in that regard but much better after the catch in terms of making players miss.
