Chris Long downplayed his "tiny part" of SB win

In the post game interview I loved his comment that it took his father 13 years in the league to get a ring and it only took him nine years...

Give Chris Long's cell number to FAs they are trying to recruit. Guys who made lots of money playing on losing teams and want the chance to play in February.

Milford? I think they're a D4 team. Howie must have hurt some kids back then.

They play teams like Norton, Medfield & Bellingham. I watched that league for 4 years recently. When a team has a D1 college recruit, they dominate to the point it looks unfair

He went to college at Villanova. So it doesn't seem like he was that highly recruited.

Well, hate to burst your bubble my friend, but technically Howie Long was born in Somerville, my hometown ( well Somerville/East Cambridge) and he played his HS ball in Milford. So Charlestown can't really claim him LMAO.

But jokes aside I'm a big Howie Long fan. Always have been. He's always come off as an articulate, knowledgeable analyst, and he's always been pro Patriots, even more so this past season with Chris on the team.
And I hate to burst YOUR bubble, pal, but Howie Long spent more of his childhood in Charlestown than anywhere else.

Charlestown is part of Boston=JP is part of Boston=I grew up in JP,PLUS I now live in NC. NC= nextdoor neighbor of VA,where Howie lives now. So I got ALL y'all beat. Bunch of freaking posers.

I don't think he really raised his value much past 4M/year, and I bet he would take similar money to last year to stay here. He's just not that great of a player anymore but he carved out a role here. If the Patriots want him back, they'll make it happen.
Yep, I don't think they'll want him back.

Agree. Plus, he's like having another Coach on the field.

He still played D1 and was likely recruited

Any potential D1 college recruit that plays in D4 in Massachusetts will dominate to the point it's ridiculous.

I'm referring to linemen & linebackers. It's fine for skill positions.

I watched this kid play D4 and it was a joke. It was like he played with little kids

There were a ton of those plays. Obviously the Hightower fumble will be remembered, but what about the holding call Hightower drew after the Patriots botched the onside kick? The Falcons completed a 9-yard pass, setting up 2nd and 1 from the Patriots 32. But Hightower forces a Jake Matthews holding call, pushing them out of FG range, and the botched onside kick costs us 0 points.

There were a ton of good links on all the little plays that we may forget about. I summarized a few here:

A game of inches

But that includes links to other articles I read about the same topic and got info from. It's just incredible how many little plays had to go our way. We will forever remember the big ones, but they wouldn't have mattered without dozens of other smaller ones.

This is what I love about team sports. He didn't dominate the entire game, he wasn't the superstar. But at one point in that game he made one play that was absolutely vital to their victory. One small contribution, get enough of them and you win.
