This really puts a pit in my stomach. So tragic. My prayers are with everyone involved.

This is so sad.My Heart goes out to all those involved.

I feel for the baby more than anything. Belcher was obviously a tortured soul that needed help but let's not lose sight of the fact that he committed murder before he turned the gun on himself.

In all, I don't think this season could be much worse for Chiefs players. My thoughts go out to everyone involved.

What about the girlfriend who lost her life in this?

Same thing Edwin Valero did 2 years ago. Undefeated (27-0, 27 ko's, 1st 17 were in the 1st round) 28 year old Venezuelan boxer, who was regarded as the biggest threat to Pacquiao, killed his wife & hung himself in a jail cell a day later.

Cue Soundgarden's "Burden In My Hand".

Horrendous.

Just horrendous.

My prayers to the family of those affected by this tragedy.
don't know how the chiefs will be expected to play tomorrow.

if i was a player..i wouldn't play..not after that happening AT the stadium...no way

Agreed, definitely. It's developed in ways I couldn't imagine when I started the thread. Tragedy.

Assuming that this article is correct:

Would anyone have sympathy for this guy if he had murdered his girlfriend/mother of his new born infant and drove to the police station to give himself up?

But since he kills himself in front of people who didn't need to see what he was about to do, now he deserves sympathy?

I see a coward who killed an innocent mother. I see a coward who left an infant parentless and other family members without a son/sibling. I see a coward who left emotional scars on people who viewed his suicide for no other reason than they wanted to help him. I see a coward who didn't want to face the repercussions of his actions.

All I see is a coward and his victims. My condolences to the victims.

Tragic.
The rate of suicide in this country is one of the largest failings of our society.

I saw that the rate of suicide in the US ranks 38th internationally. While the hope would be that nobody ever takes their own life, that doesn't seem like such a horrible ranking, considering what an enormous, free, and sometimes wacky society we live in.

By the way, seems to me the game should be cancelled. Apart from some minor issues maybe with some guys' contracts, I can't imagine who would complain about just leaving this one off the schedule.

Would think that since neither team has a play off chance here that this game could be easily rearranged.

Move it to Monday night, they have done it before. After Katrina, the Saints played a 'home' game versus the Giants in the Meadowlands and IIRC the Chargers had a game moved to LA and Monday night because of wildfires in the San Diego area......

I see someone who is jumping to conclusions. We don't know why he did what he did. There could've been a multitude of reasons that made him snap and then he took his life after he realized the consequences of his actions. Who knows?

Condolences to the gf's family and to the family of belcher.I dont know what happened yet but apparently there was a discussion. It just bothers me when someone else's life is taken. Now an infant doesnt even have her mother.

Cancel the game and credit a tie. Both teams are hopeless anyway.

I don't know how any Chiefs player can play. Chilling to be Pioli and RAC in this situation, as if their tenure hasn't sucked enough.

They went on and played after Sean Taylor was shot and killed. Whilst there were members of the team who witnessed his suicide, I'd have been surprised if the NFL had rearranged anything.

9/11 was a big exception and it was league wide so, logistically, they were able to incorporate it in to the season...it'd be tough to rearrange one fixture with no bye weeks remaining.
