Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

Yeah we seem to be in a good era with Wemby, Flagg and others doing some amazing things for the next decade.

I think the Celts can beat anyone in the east in a series - less sure about the west.
I also watched the Celts last night for the first time in a while. I was amazed at how many players played and contributed. I felt in the past mazulla didn't play the bench enough .. he sure is now.

Pritchard just making me laugh out loud.
He has seriously abused the Lakers in LA.
Nobody on LA can guard him

They were torturing Luka all night.

I do not understand the Luka worship. Great shooter, but can't defend or rebound. Even Pritchard at 4'11" tall gets rebounds and defends.
I don’t watch him regularly but when he plays the Celtics they tend to “have his number”. Hugo and Baylor did a really good job making him work for every shot.

That game yesterday was quite the eye opener. I've seen quite a few people talk about how "easy" the Eastern Conference compared to the Western Conference. These Lakers are 5th in the West, starting the game at 34-21. They didn't look like a 5th seed in a "tough"
conference.

LeBron James... $52,627,153?? Really? For that? He should just retire already. How many "breakaway" points did he have last night that was really just him not getting back up the floor on defense?

knicks-rockets was interesting. In crunch time, knicks pressured them and they have no ball-handlers and they were such a mess and blew a huge lead. The whole line-up is like 6'9 or above (except for sheppard .. a shooter). they should grab chris paul off the scrap heap. they got some talent but desperately need a guard or two.

I've railed against Luka for years. It's the standard anything but a U.S. player kinda of hype by the NBA. It's littered with failed agendas. They have something in Wemby but he's not long for the league with his body frame.

They try to compare Luka to Bird. Yeah, right.

I saw some Bird highlights recently. What was striking was how good he was on the fast break. Amazing touch passes and he played so fast. bang, bang, bang ... so exciting. . While I appreciate luka for what he is, his game is so boring.

Set an all-time record for effective FG percentage last night. An entertaining game and a nice pallate cleanser after Denver.

The Celtics offensive stats in that game were mind- boggling. Their overall shooting percentage was the best in NBA history since one of the Larry Bird teams.
But it was the greatest 3pt fg percentage in NBA history.
Brown and Pritchard had almost exactly the same stat lines across the board. They both were just sensational. Both were 9-12 from the field. Brown was 4-4 in 3's; Pritchard was 4-5. But my favorite stats were both their assists to turnovers lines: Brown 9 assists 2 turnovers; Pritchard 5 assists 1 turnover. Thosecare awesome #'s. Add in DWhite with
7 dimes 1 turnover Scheieman with 6 dimes 0 turnovers. That's 27 dimes 4 turnovers from those 4. That just doesn't happen in the NBA.

I'm a bit bummed that Scheierman broke his left thumb during the last game. While they're saying he will still be available to play with it, it might affect his shooting. He had been playing very well lately. Time for Walsh & Hugo to step up again.

Scheierman had a horrible preseason which was concerning since I expected him to make a major jump this year.
But once the real games started, he just kept getting better, especially on defense.
He's a key rotational player now, so yeah, this hurts. But C's have pretty good depth there.
He should be fully healed by postseason. Yes, he will be able to play before that but will be limited.

Scheierman with a strong game last night.Missed his 1st few shots but then nailed a couple 3's.
Your thumb might be the least important of the 5 digits as far as shooting, since it doesn't stroke the ball, just used for balance prior to release. But it still takes some getting used to.

Queta had 27 points, 17 rebounds (10 offensive), two assists, one steal, and three blocks last night.

Add in Vuc's contribution, and they got 38 points, 29 rebounds and 4 blocks from the center spot.

Yeah Queta was off the chain last night.
Amazing how far he has come. A very solid NBA starting center who has not reached his ceiling yet.
C's will be poised next year for a legit title run.
They could get to the Finals this year even w/o Tatum but I don't see them beating OKC or Denver. Yet. Next year, different story.
Has been a pleasure watching this team play their asses off every night. Max effort. Every night. Credit to all of them and Mazzula deserves Coach of the Year.

Agree. They are a top 10 team but not top 5.

I love this team.

I disagree. They're top 5 now without Tatum. They've got the third-best point differential in the league. Denver, OKC, SA and maybe Detroit ahead of them. I think they could beat anyone beyond the top three.

Edit: They're also allowing the fewest points in the league.

Those teams and I don't think they would beat the NYK, CLE, HOU or MN in a best of 7.
