Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

Ben Simmons? Please no. That guy has been in freefall since year 3 (and he missed year 1).

Not my first choice but I doubt he'll make the team. Hes's done mentally and physically.

He was mentally messed up in Philly (that free throw fiasco looked like more than the "yips") but he hasn't been the same after his back surgery. One has to wonder if his back will ever be right as he's missed games due to it since the surgery. Add in his knee issues, and you have someone not worth the money (in my book).

If we're tanking for draft picks, he'd fit in perfectly (except he's injured all the time)

Not exactly Celtics related, but……

Edit: reportedly moving to the Garden for 2027 season. Boston wasn’t given consideration for an expansion franchise because of the close proximity of the Connecticut Sun. Killed two birds with one stone. I’m not a fan of the W as their Jr. High refs, amongst other things, make the game unwatchable.

The WNBA officiating will improve over time.

We al know the league is not profitable but the opportunity to increase it's TAM is huge.

The WNBA has the dumbest bunch of professional athletes I've ever witnessed. What they're doing to their cash cow is pretty ludicrous & the fact that their referees are letting them do it is even more ludicrous.

When Clark's injuries take her out of the game and at the rate they're happening, it won't be long, they'll all go back to whining about how underpaid they are and why they can't get any recognition by the press & fans.

For some reason I have no interest in the WNBA or any other ladies' team sport. I do enjoy seeing the ladies play tennis and golf but the team sports are just too slow for me compared to the men.

They've been around for 30 years. How much time do they need?
While I didn't watch the W until last year, the current officiating is horrendous. They don't call a lot of fouls, 3-seconds, carries, moving screens/picks and a lot of holding (10-yard penalty, replay the down). I'm not exaggerating either. I played bball myself so I know players commit fouls all the time that aren't called but that league is next level ridiculous.

I wanted to see how Clark would do at the professional level, so last year, I tuned in and watched several of her games. I even had it set up to record her games on my DVR. But the officiating was brutally bad. I get that you need to stop the other's teams best player, but not the way these women are doing it. Grabbing, arm bars, tripping, punching, eye gouging... it was all out war on her with no whistles. And the announcers! My god - when she would complain after an obvious foul, they would chime in with some idiocy like, "She needs to learn how to play through that". What? Play through getting your eye gouged out?

It was no wonder to me why she passed so much and launched threes. I wouldn't drive to the hoop in her shoes.

When Bird & Magic came in and revolutionized the NBA, the rest of the NBA rode their coattails. Not these women. I honestly think they'd be happy if Clark got a career-ending injury.

I 100% feel the same way. Even down to recording the games. I can't watch commercials, reviews, etc., so I always DVR'd CC22 games.
They definitely don't want her to succeed. Even Sophie Cunningham admitted as much and more when her team played Indiana last year.

Women’s tennis and golf are fine to watch. Women’s figure skating, imo, is one of the most watchable sports. Gymnastics, swimming, volleyball, soccer, there’s a long list of women’s sports that men will watch without hesitation. Women’s basketball is ugly to watch, the skill dropoff makes it seem like this is a different sport altogether, and the other reasons given in this thread just amplify the problems. The wNBa and its advertisers continue to try to jam it into mainstream but it will never stick. It just isn’t fun to watch. Women are terrible at basketball compared to men. I don’t think a lot of these WNBA players could play for a community college men’s team or even some high school boys teams.

More TV exposure + more revenue = better paid officials/better officiating.

My dead grandmother could officiate the games better. The officiating is deliberate, not due to a lack of skill.
So you think it's intentional circa NBA 1994?
