Well there it is. Not a big loss imo, he wasn't the same player last year.

It's easy, and only takes a few moments. You're not alone.I don't know of one NBA player, past/present that I would take over Russell if I was starting a team. Probably in a party of 1 with that thought but thats how I feel.
I don't get it at all. They've done nothing to deserve the hate. My 22 y/o daughter hates them and when I press her for a legit reason she has nothing.I don’t recall a team in any sport being as disliked as the Thunder, given none of their players have really done anything to deserve the hate. Maybe it’s angst about them being a dynastic team. But almost every NBA player, and team, even championship winning ones, tend to have a fairly long stage where they’re the fresh, cool kid before people get sick of them.
The Thunder seem to have skipped that stage altogether and are just not likeable for whatever reason. People don’t seem to really “respect their greatness” either. They’re perceived as an annoyance to everyone outside OKC and Doris Burke and co. You just don’t care enough to hate them but you don’t like them either.
Yep. They got a solid year out of him which turned into a title. Solid vet.Hats off to Holiday. Reliable clutch vet who came in to a not easy situation and transitioned easily to help the Celtics win a championship. Best of luck Jrue thank you

They are a very good, young team that owned to 2025 NBA season.
Agreed.I think it has a lot to do with the flopping Thunder team. SGA in particular is really terrible to watch when he's around the hoop. His technique of trapping a defenders arm under his arm and then acting as if the defender did it is not a great look for the NBA. The refs gave the Thunder every possible break in this series. Have you seen the videos of Pacers' players repeatedly being shoved out of bounds? OKC fouling players with no call when they called it on the other end? Phantom fouls on the Pacers? It was really bad.
How does this move make sense for Portland? A rebuilding team now has a bloated contract with an older player for 3 more years instead of 1 more year with a younger player. I don’t get it, unless they think they can flip him in another deal.Well there it is. Not a big loss imo, he wasn't the same player last year.
It's the rule of cool. The Thunder are a dull team that everyone knows is good and have potential to be a dynasty type team and nobody is excited to go on the ride. There's no personalities that as a fan you can latch onto and feel strong emotions to. OKC isn't really a known sports city or much of a market that people have strong feelings about. So it's not the "old school traditional fanbase like the Celtics or Lakers" getting another one or the "hungry upstarts" like Cleveland finally getting something or even flashy Miami.I don't get it at all. We knew Cs would move someone and I don't believe they are done.OKC needs to Cowboy Up.
He won't be a 20ppg guy here, especially when JT comes back. But he can shoot the 3 and is a high volume 3pt shooter (about 8.5 FGA/GM) at a decent .381, which is better than JT and JB. And Simons was a more focal point (leading scorer) in Portland (where 7 players avg double-figures) so he'll have more open looks here when JT is back. He's not a good defender though. But he just turned 26 so he is now reaching his prime. I think this is his contract year as well. I like this trade. Also thats a pretty good return as well Simons is a 20ppg guy. Not too bad.

The chatter is he is saying in Portland to build culture. Doubt he is getting flipped this time around. They are most certainly going to flip him

They have to, you realize that right? The penalties are incredible if they don't get under the second apron at least. Don't blame the new ownership, blame the small market teams, Wyc and other ownership groups that couldn't put pen to paper fast enough on this CBA.So now saving money has become more important here too than acquiring talent, just like the Ded Sux. Wonderful.
Welcome back to Loserville USA, same as I left the place 33 years ago and 8 full years before Brady arrived.
