Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Something of nit
Agree with most of the post but this is such a huge issue. Because it isn’t just the last shot, it’s all late game execution. And these games are going to be tight. Celtics are gonna have to win some of them

Something of note I don't see much talk about. Will JM play sceierhman? And Quata.. as great as Al has been for us we can't continue to rely on him to heavily at age 38.. down 0-2 my feelings are coaches need to switch things up sometimes all the greats did. Scheierhmen and Quata could give then a different look along with offense rebounding and shooting.

I’d like him as HC if he got his head out of his ass and learned to draw up plays in key moments and make necessary adjustments.

But Mazzula may not be capable of that. He is incredibly stubborn.
If JM chooses not to play guys on his bench that can help the team then it's definitely stubbornness. Guys aren't hitting shots.. with Hauser down give Baylor some spot minutes..

So ... he's the Mayo of the NBA?
I don't quite see it that way. Mayo pretty much had no idea what he was doing and tried to obscure his lack of aptitude for the job by proclaiming he was being "collaborative," which was just another way of saying,"I have no idea what I'm doing, so I'm hoping somebody around here does." Mazzoula would have us believe he's some sort of genius or seer. He asserts confidence, but aside from mouthing the simplistic "data driven" "philosophy" that the team ought to shoot the three irrespective of the team's aptitudes that night or the game situation (fer crissakes), all he has to offer is a bunch pseudohip jockbro ********. He's a bullshitter, period, and that is all he is.

I felt the same pre-'24. After last year, being pleasantly surprised, I was willing to think he had seen the light and had also conveyed his revelation to his key stars, and that they had all matured to a new level. Alas, this year is strongly suggesting that the pre-'24 assessment, per your quoted analysis, is accurate and that last year they were somehow able to resist their natural tendencies. I see no suggestion that he/they can replicate whatever went right last year. I hope again to be surprised...

The coach is as crazy as a bedbug - a phony poseur and scam artist - and the team is world-class soft, "led" by the league's #1 squish: Tatum. With the more physical play allowed during the playoffs, a soft team cannot compete, and the coach is a a one-trick pony whose trick - just toss up threes and hope the numbers work - blows. He's either too lazy to do the actual work of adjusting to changing game circumstances or he lacks the insight to accomplish that part of his job. Or both.
These are terrible, knee-jerk takes. This same “soft team” who can’t compete in the playoffs happens to be the reigning champions, coming off a 16-3 postseason run in 2024. They also have a top 3 defense known for its physical play and one of the best statistical offenses of all-time, built like many teams around a 3 point shot philosophy.

Anyone else almost not want to watch the game today? It almost feels like homework, just get the win boys and I’ll catch up with you for game four…

A lot of things can happen. Would love to see Knicks have the game seemingly in hand and choke it away themselves. The whole storyline of the series will change if something along those lines happens. Blown chance to go up 3-0 and essentially clinch.

Showtime! Time to see what this version of the franchise is made of.

Porzingis not starting does not augur well.

Fully expecting the C's to 'give their balls a tug' and take care of business today

Oh Oh! 20 point lead.

Well they finally remembered what they are and how to play basketball it would seem.

Also, the Knicks are getting gassed, I was wondering when this would show up and it showed up in game 3. Thibs runs them hard all season. Be interesting to see to how it affects them going forward.

Yeah one thing to note is that with both 20 point leads, it didn’t seem like they were playing great basketball. The Knicks were flat out horrible in the first half both times. Today the Celtics were at their best in H1.

Brunson is the exact type of player I despise in the NBA. Too short? I'm gonna jump into guys, claw, grab, kick etc and then expect to get every call.
He’s the worst (besides LeFraud)

What a flop. He really sucks as a player.
He’s a below average efficiency shooter and way below average defender, whose entire skill set is based around drawing whistles via dramatic acting.

He is a little ***** just like his father who played at Temple for that bigger little ***** John Chaney.

And you hear the media calling him a "superstar". Unreal.
