Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Bottom of the roster, not a shooter. Salary dump. Fun defensive player but he never had a real future here in the rotation.
Yeah I know.. just love his hustle, his defensive Tenacity.. thought he could have a defensive specialist type if role here.

I really had high hopes for springer...
Yeah he was improving offensively but not fast enough. He could end up being a solid player in a couple years if he keeps working in his offense.
Problem is, he takes up way too much $ on the salary cap for the minutes he's playing.
They really need a 2way wing.
In the short term, I'd expect to see Peterson here. Davison is better offensively but a poor defender and he's shorter.

Cavs land a good player in Hunter but gave up Niang, who was a more of pest type guy. Interesting move…seems a bit redundant for what they already have.

I'm glad Niang is gone. He was sometimes a pain in the huevos

After that flop last night, this team has me worried again. I thought that the defensive effort they put in against Cleveland would carry over but nope... they made 34 year-old Klay Thompson look like Michael Jordan, allowing him to hit 64.7% of his 2's and 50% of his 3s.

Tomorrow night's Knicks game is going to be a good indicator of the rest of this season & playoffs. If they don't wake up, they're going to get killed come playoff time.

The thing I can't figure is if this is on the players or Mazzulla. I don't get why he doesn't show more fire when the players don't step up on D.

They chose not to play D last night. A consistent theme throughout the year.

I don't think it will. It's February. If they lose by 30 they have the talent and experience to win in OKC the following night...assuming they are focused.

To your point it's not often a team which plays inconsistent in the regular season wins an NBA title.

Both. For instance JT mailed it in last night. It was obvious.

In terms of motivation/riding the players, I do think Maz has "picked his spots" more this year.

I think the Knicks are going to be a bigger obstacle than OKC because they are likely going to be the team the Celts will need to beat in the East in the playoffs. If they can’t beat the Knicks, they’ll never even play OKC (if OKC can win the West).

Not CLE?

I'm not worried at all.
As Mazzulla has said, the season starts after the all star break.
Its a long season and it ain't mlb. The nba takes more out of players physically than any other pro team sports, although NHL is close.
Besides playing deep into the Finals, there were the Olympics.
I look more at how they've played vs. top teams, which has been good.
I also look at the best road record in the league. That shows toughness.
I expect them to really start getting into playoff form after the break. They will make a push at Cleveland for the top seed, although they don't need it.
But I agree about the Knicks game tonight. They need to show up on both sides of the ball. This is the kind of game they usually get up for.

If the Celts & Cleveland end the season 1 & 2, they shouldn't face each other until the Eastern Conference finals. They'll have to get through a team like the Knicks to get to Cleveland... or several teams like the Knicks, though I think the Knicks are built for the playoffs (barring injury). Karl-Anthony Towns is a rebounding machine who can score, which has given the Celts (minus KP) big trouble in the past.

Great road win by the best road team in the nba.
C's showed why they're the Champs.
They controlled this game wire to wire.
I'm proud of em.
Agreed. What I've come to grips with.
We can't contain any top SGs.
Holiday definitely is slowing down
We are so lackluster at home games
We are the leagues best road team
We will likely need to beat NY in 2nd round.

The ****ing Brad was the Only ****ing grocery shopper of a contender who actually LOST personnel.

The ****ing laziness... the ****ing arrogance... the ****ing hubris.

If they don't go back-to-back, it will be because of HIM.
Yep. I for one said they should be adding. Cs core players are all veteran guys. I felt like we could have added someone.. turned out the springer move was to free up salary..

Knicks are more efficient offensive team than us but we are a better team rebounding and defensive team (when we want to be)

I believe the correct form of the verb is "shat."
Thank you cap'n.
This is reminiscent of my freshman Latin class at BC High.
Conjugation the verb " scio". ( pronounced she-oh).
It goes scio, scis, scit( pronounced " ****")
Our teacher, a Jesuit,of course, warned us as the entire class was about to conjugate the verb, not to be loud when we reached "scit".
So of course this is what it sounded like:
Shee-oh, Shiss, ****!!!! from 30 14 year olds at the top of their lungs.
BTW, I can't remember what it even means but pretty sure its not related to ****,shat, shatted?

Is there a way we could play all the rest of the games on the road.. this team has no homecourt advantage.
I wouldn’t say that, they’ve lost a few this year for sure but the game against Dallas was no surprise at all, teams coming home after a long road trip almost always play flat the first game home, they just let their energy down

I don’t think it’s lazy, I think he just is thinking their best play is to run it back this year. I’m not saying that’s right, but that’s what he’s looking at
