Side out

CBS Sports telecasts of NFL games in the 2006 regular season will not include sideline reporters.

The network didn't use sideline reporters during the NCAA men's basketball tournament last season until the Final Four.

Bonnie Bernstein left CBS in January and joined ESPN this month.

Armen Keteyian left the NFL on CBS to do investigative reporting for CBS News.

All I can say is....

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

what a pointless waste of time that always was, to the point I just muted them when they came on and said the same things over and over again.

BB has to be very disappointed . . . we all know how he loves to provide info to the press!!

Maybe they'll get bacl to the game and having THAT as the main feature...I agree a BIG YES!!!!!!

Yes.
We should all write to CBS to tell them this is the smartest thing they've done in years.

Finally...hope this concept is gone forever. The worst ever had to be Siragusa(sic)...did he ever even have 1 clever thing to say?

Bonnie Bernstein to Coach Belichick: ..." Coach, will you be resting any of your players in the second half after this very impressive 34-0 lead you have built going into the 3rd quarter?". BB: "Bonnie, we feel the Texans are flat out the best third quarter team we've seen in this league over the past three or four years. As a result, our coaching staff and players will approach the second half of this close game as if the score was tied up at 0-0".

Thank you CBS! Sideline reporters were so pointless! No the games won't have any interupted cut scenes were we focus on the sideline reporter while the game is in action.

thank god

sideline reportes did nothing but piss people off

I'll slightly dissent here. I hated the way all the networks carried out the sideline reporter. They took away from the game to tell stories about a players childhood, or something useless like that. I think if they simplified their role to FOOTBALL MATTERS, then the sideline reporter could be good for the game. They just need to stop making the reporting the main attraction. The sideline guys could be good for injury updates and strategic coaching adjustments being made, just cut out the touchy, feely crap.

I agree, except for one thing...

You don't even have to cut to them so we can see them...

Just have the announcer say, "Let's go down to Joe Schmo on the sideline for an update on that injury..."

And then Joe gives the update and we hear his voice while the game stays on the main screen...

Hopefully, this is also the end of the FOX approach: "It's football. Let's put chicks on!"

Outside of Suzy Kobler, none of these ditzy Vegas showgirl types knew d!ck about the game...

We have women on this board that could do a WAY better job!

It sounds to me that your memory may need refreshing further and I am more than happy to oblige:

In case anyone imagines that it is only American men who relate to young people with enthusiasm, patriotism compels me to take the opportunity to post this image of a well-known British journalist :
