Which team is better Matt Cassel's 11-5 Patriots or Tom Brady's 7-5 Patriots?
Tough call.

Cassel's team by a long shot. Infinitely better coaching and extremely dangerous toward the end of the season when everything started to click. Had they made the playoffs they would have wreaked havoc. They were major SB contenders.

This team just sucks.

It's not a tough call. Last year's team. No doubt about it.

I want the "dumbed down" playcalling we used with Cassel on this Brady's team. That team was so balanced last year on offense

I'll say it: Cassel's team is better STRICTLY BECAUSE OF PLAYCALLING NOT BRADY.

Before everyone starts idolizing Brady like a God..... multiple statistical sites show that the different between an elite QB over an avg QB is nearly 2 wins a season.

You know, I think this team is still better than last year's team was. The Patriots played the two worst divisions in football last year, so they got a huge boost from that. Now, I will say, last year's team was a lot more satisfying than this year's team is, just because after Brady went down in week 1, we got into a situation where every win was fun and every loss was just expected.

Last year's week 17 team would destroy this year's week 13 team.

I still think this year's team is better. We've had a tougher schedule and we don't have JMD either... I think that's hurt us the most.

Probably Cassel's team. This team lost alot on defense, alot of experience and players who knew how to finish. Not because Cassel is better than Brady...

If not having JMD has hurt this team, how can it be better than last year's team that had McDaniels? Not sure I get your logic.

While I think the 2008 team had a REALLY easy schedule, the team was playing great at the end of the season. That team got better as the season progressed and was peaked week 17. The '09 team is the opposite. They had a shaky start, peaked in week 7 and have been getting progressively worse each game.

Last year's team by far.......better coached........had seymour and seemed to be a better D....and they were looking tight towards the end of the season heading into what I thought was the playoffs........This team this year is downright awful.....from the coaching to the players.....with the exception of a few players...they stink

09 pats can only hope to be "as good" as the cassel led pats from last year. After all, as a fat ********* once noted, "you are what you record says you are".

Lest we forget, the 2008 Patriots beat Buffalo twice, Miami in Miami (best win of the year), NYJ at the Meadowlands (second best win), @SF (meh), @Oak (awful) @ Sea (awful team with a plethora of injuries that outplayed the Pats for most of that), StL at home (ugly win against a terrible team), Ari at home (locked up the NFC West, had the busses running as soon as they hopped off the bus), KC (tough circumstances), and Denver (solid win on MNF).

The 2009 Patriots are 12-4 with the 2008 schedule, and the 2008 Patriots are probably 5-7/6-6 at this point... I'm as frustrated as anyone, but (for now, at least), I would still take this year's version...

We need fresh blood in the coaching ranks. I feel like after losing McD we just have a bunch of yes men. Belichick respected McD's opinion and knew he was here by choice. O'Brien and company are just trying to keep their jobs and are probably afraid to challenge BB and Brady's opinion the way that McD would do in the past.

This team is clearly better (Brady > Cassell, defense is not quite as terrible). What's pathetic is it's not by that much.

We traded the wrong QB in the offseason?

This is getting insane... this year's team has more EXPECTATIONS. The 08 team wasn't a SB contender - it got beat by mostly every good team they played.

Last years team was much funner to root for though, because of lowered expectations. We all thought this team was going to get rolling, but it hasn't. It's a 10-6 or 11-5 team that will do the same thing as the 05 team - win at home and lose on the road.

It would beat the 08 team. But that WAS a fun team (once you got over the Brady knee).

.

Yes, but, this team (2009) has zero (0) wins against teams with winning records this season and zero (0) wins at opponents stadiums this season.
