Carr OUT for the season

Cross post..

I hate seeing young QB's go down. I am a Ducks fan, Marcus is my dude. What happen to Marcus and Carr, really makes me look in awe to Tom. Dude never ends up in those roll up situations. It's crazy.
Hey Jinxy, Merry Christmas.

I'm pretty sure that if Miami wins, Denver is gone because KC has the other wild card spot clinched.
I don't think that's true. KC hasn't clinched anything to my knowledge

Play a hard 4 quarters next week. Home field hasn't been clinched.

Derangement may be the only way to describe the thinking of "resting" anyone healthy enough to play when the HFA qualification is on the line.
Reasons we shouldn't rest players for an important game:
1-Because it would be insane
2-Because Oakland is a late game, the Patriots are an early game. Carr being out does not change that if we don't beat Miami we allow the HFA title to be out of control.
3-Players will rest starting at 4:30/when the Miami game is over and won. But I'll concede this: if we are leading by 30 to start the 4th then resting anyone who has an known injury concern, simply could use a quarter of rest, a general injury concern/importance, giving snaps to a backup who could use extra snaps is understandable.
4-Football players play football. The mentality to rest players when an important seeding position is on the line is antithetical to PO football. Hopefully it doesn't happen but if an injury does happen then it is what it is. That's football...next man up and hope for the best.
5-The Patriots will not play a single real game meaningful snap for 13 or 14 straight days. That in itself is a tangible period of rest for a team that is about to go on a 3 game playoff competition and elimination scenario. We want to assure as much as possible a continuity of intensity to segue from the Miami game to the first PO game especially for the D and beyond. The D is hungry and playing with confidence - something that could be all the difference in the world for winning the SB. Purposefully interrupting that with a very meaningful game on the line is a mode of thinking that is hard to compute.

Ok so if Denver wins out and KC loses out, both are 10-6. Who gets the wild card spot?

This meme made me laugh.

KC does because KC would still have a better divisional record than DEN.
(if two or more teams from the same division are tied for a WC spot, the divisional tiebreakers are used to eliminate all but one of them).

KC can clinch with a ravens loss early. How will KC play the broncos if this happens? I got a bad feeling that the donkey's might just make the playoffs.

last year was different in that we allowed Denver to take the #1 seed and we have problems at their stadium

those problems are really not had anywhere else in that way (maybe miami if you want to dig into it a bit)

certainly not at Oakland...losing homefield to anyone aside from Denver is much less of a problem

Very sad! Could not happen at a worse time. He has them in the playoffs for the first time in over a decade and this happens.

I wish him the best of luck in a full recovery.

My priority list is at follows:
1. Knock Denver out of the playoffs
2. Rest players vs. Miami
3. Homefield advantage - because the only road game we would possible have to play is Oakland and that does not scare me in the slightest

Both #1 and #2 can be accomplished by resting guys against Miami even if Denver manages to beat KC. The only other pesky team left in playoffs would be the Ravens and they will be out if Steelers beat them this week. That would be my dream scenario.

If KC beats Denver tomorrow they will have a chance to beat San Diego next week for the 2 seed, Oakland will lose at Denver for sure now in week 17.

Then the first round of the playoffs would be Raiders without Carr at Texans/Titans

And we'd likely get the winner of that

You don't say...........

Unfortunately not everyone here ageees HFA is a priority with the carr injury. I don't get it but it is what it is.

Getting a bye is getting the #1 seed at this point.

It's HIGHLY unlikely that a Matt McGloin led Raiders team is beating any opponent they play in the Divisonal Round to begin with.

On the insane chance they do, there's absolutely 0 chance this Pats team (who is undefeated on the road, mind you) is losing to a Matt McGloin led Raiders team, wherever it be in Oakland, Mexico or on the Moon.

The only team that can stop the Pats in the AFC is the Steelers, and possibly the Chiefs, just as long as an alien with really great coaching skills abducts Andy Reid's body...

It's not a priority if Carr is out for the season because Oakland will lose to Denver and if they don't they will lose their 1st playoff game. And then, even if they manage to get to the AFCCG the prospect of playing them in Oakland without Carr doesn't worry me in the least. In fact it would be quite Karmic to beat them in the Conference Chamionship in their last game at The Coliseum.
