As for the injury itself, we should probably root for kc to win their division. That likely means we get sh***y afcs team or raiders without carr.
If oakland somehow hangs on to that division, the 3 seed likely plays 2 teams without their starting qb while we are facing a tough kc team first.
Of course this is mostly assuming we handle business next week.
Does this now mean that if the Raiders lose to Denver next week, and we win against Miami, we get homefield?
If Carr is out for the season that really sucks, he was a bright spot for the league this season and would have brought much more intrigue to the playoffs. Even though I hate the Raidah's I liked them returning to relevance.
Oh well, I'll just have to console myself with Lombardi #5.
I don't expect denver to put up much of a fight against the raiders if they lose tomorrow at kc. Just beat miami in miami
Its a division rival and the last game in mile high this year, denver wont roll over whether theyre playoff eligible or not imo.
That said, i think we should and will play everyone next week except maybe amendola/hightower/slater if theyre still dinged.
If OAK loses NE does not need to win.
NE gets the #1 seed:
Or put another way, there is only one way for OAK to get the #1 seed -- a NE loss and OAK win. Any other outcome by either team gives the #1 to NE.
- With an OAK loss or tie, OR
- With a NE win or tie.
Amazing that people haven't learned from last season.
Pats play at 1pm. OAK at 4pm. Won't know OAK's outcome until after the Pats play.
Last season we were also dealing with the fear of facing Denver in Mile High. Even if we lose and Oakland wins and gets the 1st seed, you really think they're threats like Denver? Especially without Carr? They might not even win their divisional game and the playoffs will still go through NE. Heck,we probably beat them @Oakland too.Amazing that people haven't learned from last season.
If Denver loses tomorrow does Miami lock up a wild card?
I think this team is starting to take shape without Gronk. Losing him is big for sure, but we look great without him.Brady will and should start Sunday - the #1 seed is at stake.
This sucks for the league, though. Just another example of how, when you're at the top, not-getting-injured becomes priority 1 over the last few weeks. It's just a messed up reality of football in general, that by the end of the season the standouts end up being the teams that were lucky enough not to get massacred by injury. That's the biggest difference between the 2014 and 2016 Pats vs. 2015, at least as of now. Losing Gronk was huge, but we're pretty lucky to not have any other core players out for the season.
