Cap to rise $10-15m

With social media and on-line advertising there are so many other more cost-effective ways with a better ROI than dropping $10m on a Super Bowl ad.

Agree, especially food adverts like Doritos, would be better off telling the press they plan to distribute $10m worth of food stuff across food banks in the US.

Well said. GM clowns will be tripping over each other to give average players $30M in guaranteed money while Belichick sits in office smoking a cigar.
But Belichick will not over pay someone correct? Even if he has the money, if the higher CAP makes teams over pay for players like Butler, does Belichick go along or does he stick to making offers that are in line with his value for the player? He has never been someone to just let the market determine a players value. He values depth the most of anything, and loves players who begin to excel while still on the Rookie contract the most.

No excuse to lose Hightower now.. make him the highest paid MLB if you have to, just get it done because in 3 years his salary will look like a bargain

He's an elite enough player to warrant being top paid.. maybe there are 2 or 3 guys you could argue are better, but you still need to pay him and with the cap going up, so will all salaries for even mediocre players

The NFL is setting themselves up for a lot of hurt. With the drop in TV revenues and no consensus on why, when they rollback the salary cap it's going to be even more painful. Ultimately, I hope it haunts Goodell the most.
NFL TV contracts with FOX, NBC, CBS run through 2022....and through 2021 with ESPN.
This hurt you anticipate...not close to happening

How are Belichick's decisions on Hightower affected. The market will be higher; others will offer more than they would have with a lower cap increase.

???

Every team but one had operating revenue over $45M next year. The cap was expect to increase. A $10M-$15M increase in not putting any team in jeopardy.

And even if 2 or 3 teams were in jeopardy, that would simply mean that they were being grossly mismanaged.

That's the ADD viewpoint. Of course it's not going to happen today or the near future. But you can see the writing on the wall.

Exactly, hope that this will not hurt Patriots and they dont sign monster contracts that could hurt them.

No...I don't see the writing on the wall....not even close. I see the NFL expanding its European television market yearly. Same goes for South America and Asia. You think the NFL plays overseas for ticket sales? Any blip in US viewership will be managed/readjusted while tapping into the 90% of the world that has yet to view a game.
Note what has happened in the Barclay's Premier league which has overtaken the other European leagues financially thanks to lucrative overseas deals (US).

I don't share your optimism. Maybe it happens, but consider it iffy.

I'm saying you could just offer to make him the highest paid MLB in the league right now, he may not decide to wait until free agency with a deal like that and just get him locked up.. I can't imagine they don't have him as part of their future plans... granted, I thought Collins would DEFINITELY be a part of their future plans and obviously that was not the case at all.. but they can't afford to lose another elite player on defense, you have to pay somebody and Hightower is as deserving as most

Butler
DH
Marty

They can keep all 3 if they want
