Love what he brings to the table, we seem to be locking up a lot of the key defenders I would argue Peppers is as important to the team as Judon.
He’s a blue collar all heart balls to the wall athletic instinctive center fielder who can lay the wood on an opposing player.
I’m sure we can take care of him.

A hard hit from Jabrill Peppers can apparently make opposing players reevaluate some things. That seemed to be the case for Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams.

In the new Netflix documentary series “Receiver,” Adams showed what can go through a player’s head after they take some big hits. Toward the end of the third episode, a clip shows Adams take a huge hit from Peppers during the Raiders’ Week 5 matchup against the New England Patriots this past season.

After taking the shot, Adams began to complain on the sidelines about the number of hits he’d taken.

“I gotta get the (expletive) out of here before I lose my (expletive) life,” Adams said late in the series’ third episode. “I’ve never been hit this many (expletive) times in my career. Every game I get (expletived) up.”

Pats can sign anyone they want. they can manipulate cap space as needed.
but is it a good football decision to pay 2 safeties top tier money, knowing they will have a need at CB as Jon Jones ages.

speaking of which, is Jon Jones position after this season at safety?

Yip, I hope he is signed soon.

He'd be wise not to sign. The Pats can't/shouldn't pay two SS's similar money and Peppers has proven he can be a starting SS.

I really wish we would've given the money to Peppers instead of Dugger. I like Dugs, dont get me wrong but Peppers is just built different. He's the kind of guy I want a SS. Just nasty and he can play. I don't see the team paying both players to perform the same role, especially with Mapu in the wings. If Mapu shows up this year, Peppers will be gone when his deal is up. Unless Mayo and Covington switch things up on the D and start playing lighter LB's, I just don't see Peppers getting a deal. Then again, they seem like they're just throwing money all over the place. Ive already gone back and forth too many times in my response. Ive got no ****ing clue man.

I so WANT Pep to resign.. but maybe there's already something in the works and he's patiently waiting on Judon's situation. Pep has passionately said he want to remain here and be part of the build back. He says he totally adopted the Patriots culture.

I hear ya man.. Dugger got paid really of past production. In 2022 guy was a borderline all pro.. once McCourty left that affected his game alot. Both those guys play excellent together, and I hope pep re ups. Guys a Rodney type presence in the defense and the ultimate leader. However peppers is a top 5 safety and Dugger is a top 10 for sure. We are lucky to have 2 top safeties.

it is good to pay two safeties when we have to sign a LB? a DT?

These choices aren't related. We still have lots and lots of cap flexibility.

I HATED the deal they gave Dugger because it likely meant losing Pep who I view as a better player. I hope I’m wrong, but I don’t see Dugger living up to that contract with his on-field play

His stats say otherwise at FS. He played like a top among all his peers in the NFL Tbh, I was hoping they’d lock him up to a deal before Dugger. Peppers versatility is pretty much gold right now.

We have the cap we need to make it happen.

Peppers is 29 in October. he will want 3 years after this year. his game is based on physicality.
the Pats can pay him now, but do you want to be on the hook in 3 years when hopefully they will have a team ready to compete for the playoffs?
sure, take his base and per game/workout bonus ($4m) and turn it into a sign bonus
give him a 2 year deal, 2024 (grtd) and 2025 for $16m. ($8m per)
Peppers gets $12m guaranteed with the potential for $20m

would you do it?

Yes, it is a good football decision. Peppers is a really good player, and they can deal with any cap implications because they are saving $$$ on other units, and will be the next few years. They are saving serious $$$ at QB, WR, OL, LB, and CB right now, and will be for a while, so extending Peppers should be easy to fit in.As the team and roster gets better and more experienced the costs will go up, and they will have to make tougher decisions, but right now it won’t be an issue.

Are you asking for the team or Peppers? The team would jump all over that deal, Peppers would leave in free agency.

Pep got an extension i think in 22.. prior to dugger being signed. Pep said himself that he didn't think his career would go on after having the injuries, he went on to say NE revived his career when other clubs felt he couldn't play being a former 1st round pick. I believe he stays, and he will be the next to be extended. Dugger based on his production and the market for safeties at his level is what commanded his pay. So basically we have 1st round and 2nd rounders at the safety spots. Most teams don't even have 1.

I wouldn't be shocked if we see that peppers was extended prior or during camp!
