Bye week reading, "The Blind Side"...

I never cared for Billick the HC, just exuded arrogance. But I've liked Billick the analyst and after reading your mention and finding this excerpt online I think this book is added to my christmas list...

Books : More than a Game : Excerpts

Glad to know that-

It contains just enough tidbits to make it worth reading. He is sometimes frank as to the pressure he experienced as HC. The last few chapters alone make the book worthwhile, about how hard it is to find a franchise QB, and about how the game has evolved, and then some thoughts on Offense/Defense evolution.

He talks about how the pressure of being a HC in a big city hit him when he drove into Balitmore for the first time and saw a 10 story billboard of his face staring at him. It made him cringe and ask himself what the hell he was doing.

But what I found interesting, and this is something I've heard about BB (who was famous for setting his priorities hard and straight), was that activity does not always equal productivity. A HC who works hard or around the clock doesn't always achieve success.

Reading between the line, you understand that either you are a HC or you are not one, period.
