Butler thinking about a new agent?

Clearly the Feinstein & Forlizzi approach to closing lucrative NFL contracts is not working....

I remember reading how Butler's agent said "I could do this!" Looks like the agent might have really messed up. Not so easy after all.

*waits for the inevitable posts about what a great job Butler's agent is doing*

You mean he's switching from the personal injury lawyer? What's he thinking?

Butler signed long term and Gilmore....That would be awesome !!

Question of the day ....2 years of Richard Sherman or 3 years of Malcolm at the same annual salary?

Sherman's a great cb, but that would mean the Pats top 3 cbs are all tall. Not good. Too much duplication. Butler better complements Gilmore and Rowe. He's also 2 years younger. But

True but Sherman can cover anyone.

Sherman can't cover me.......or you.....get it?

Gilmore's only 6'.

That's not exactly over-tall.

Disagree. He's not great vs. quicker smaller wrs. Not horrible either, like most tall cbs. But Butler is much better at it.Butler's one of the best in the NFL at that. Gilmore and Rowe both have the super- quick 3cones, usually found only in smaller cbs like Butler,so in theory both of them could cover the je11s,tho neither has done a lot of it. And like Sherman, they can both cover the taller wrs( tho neither is in Sherman's class- tho Gilmore has the potential to be close).

There's debate over his height. I've seen him listed at 6' and 6'1". Just as Butler is probably listed an inch taller than he is. But in the NFL, 6' and up is considered tall for cb. Vast majority of good and great cbs have been 5'9"-6'0. Every team really needs 3 quality cbs, since sub is the base 70% of the time across the league. Ideally you'd want a taller cb who can handle the taller wrs and at least one smaller cb who can handle the quicker shorter guys.

Sherman and his length v Butler and 3 cone are equal.

As I said in [one of] the other threads, his best move is to try for a long term deal from Pats. He's old for someone not yet out of his first contract, so go for the security and the best dollars you can. He'll be 28 or 29 before he hits free agency and could get hurt.
