Think about it. Any agent who had a roster bonus kick in on August 15th would have a fool for a client. Roster bonuses are designed to insure you get something even if you end up elsewhere or out of work come August. Having a roster bonus there would be begging to be cut on the eve of the season, most players worst nightmare.

Mike Vrabel's contract is a good example of how roster bonuses are structured. Either someone had to pay him the bonus (in this case the Chiefs traded for him and paid it) or he would be cut right at the start of free agency which gives him the best chance to maximize his next contract elsewhere.

There is 100% chance that the Patriots acquire a 5th round pick..............

In the 2009 draft, the Patriots traded the 23rd pick to the Ravens

for the Ravens 26th pick and 5th round pick. It is that easy

to acquire a 5th round pick. Also, the Patriots had such good luck with

their #2 picks that maybe they will trade out of the first round again for

extra picks.

The bad news is that Pierre Woods has failed to seize the opportunity. He's the big loser in this deal.

Great trade, btw!!! :singing:

Not necessarily means that Woods failed to develop. But the OLB position is very thin after the release of Redd.
Burgess is best option out there.
